ok....back on track here.
Did you see that sign? Isn't that the cutest????
Anyway, in we go, and up to the House of Hearts Welcome Center.
(Now, as a disclaimer, I must confess this and the fabulous picture in the previous post are from the disc GKTW gives you at check-out. When we checked in it had started raining. NOT great picture taking weather. Any and all beautiful px revealed on this post were either px we took the next day or were part of the check-out disc)
Check-in was swift. I did inquire as to whether it was possible to request a certain villa (Matty had had a px of a villa from the new Fairy Tale Forest in his Wish Book)
Sadly the woman at the desk informed me that there were none available

I must admit I was quite disappointed to hear that but.....what could we do? We weren't likely to be spending much time in our villa anyway, right? Within minutes a very nice volunteer introduced herself, grabbed our welcome information and requested we follow her in our van to our villa. It was pouring!!!!
Driving through the village I honestly felt like I was in someone's neighborhood. It truly had a very warm and welcoming feel. Our villa appeared to be in one of the older sections and was in an area adjacent to the Fairy Tale Forest (what a tease huh?????). Inside it was decorated for Christmas!! A lovely tree and lots of additional xmas doo-dads sprinkled throughout the villa. The children were each given a special welcome friend - a big stuffed Mickey Mouse for Matty and some little Shamus for each of the others. In addition there was a refrigerator stocked with snacks and drinks and a bag full of additional 'fun' on the table (other stuffies, books, a video......). We spent the next 15-20 minutes or so reviewing the 'Bunny Book' (now called the 'Village Guide' but I like BB better), listening to specifics about the village and our week to come while the kids explored the villa. She informed me of the orientation being held that evening at 7:45 pm but, "I'm sorry" I told her, that was simply NOT an option........oh, no, no, no, no, no!!!!!! (oh, 'why not?' you ask? What? Didn't I tell you??????). The next orientation was at 9 am the next morning but I didn't really like that one.......I wanted to be up and out early. The volunteer didn't seem to approve of my inflexiblity?????

"Perhaps you can arrange a private orientation" she offered (reluctantly). I decided to take her up on that one
Truth be told, I was exhausted. And feeling a bit emotional. Exhaustion does that to me (perhaps menopause is around the corner as well

). And I'm sure the reality of the whole Wish Trip was getting to me. I didn't have the energy to unpack. The weather was a bit depressing. And I was still disappointed in not getting in to the 'Forest'

Knowing that I needed to arrange for that private orientation I grabbed Olivia and jumped into the van. On the way back to the Welcome Center we took a detour and drove through the 'Forest'. "Whattya mean there aren't any villas available??????" I thought as we drove around the circle. There must've been 5 or 6 that were unoccupied (you could tell because there were no nameplates out)!!!!!!!!! Hmmmmmmmmmm
I did manage to arrange a private orientation that early afternoon and while I was so engaged dh took the kids to explore the village after having some Boston Market delivered from Katie's Kitchen. They checked out the playground (MATTHEW'S playground - Matty kept calling it "my playground"):
moved over to the Castle of Miracles when they found the playground to be closed:
then to the Amberville Train Station:
and finally to the Ice Cream Parlor for a little ice cream (how dare they go without ME!!):
Me? Well, back from the orientation I had tried to take a nap. For a little while anyway. Exhausted as I was, I had trouble sleeping. I was fixated. I just HAD to have one of those Fairy Tale villas. So I called. I talked to one person. And then another. And then another, who said............................"of course"!!!!!!

Ask and you shall receive.
By the time dh and kids had come back (soaking wet from the rain) I had had the van repacked and was ready to go! "Where are we going?" they all asked.
Why here, of course!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Pamela
