I've seen many people mention the pressed pennies but I'm wondering if there are any Mold-a-ramas in the parks. My kids have quite a collection (zoo animals, dinosaurs, submarines) and we'd love a little Disney in there. :)

Sorry, I haven't ever seen anything like that (I had to Google it...) at Disney. Maybe somebody else has?

I believe something like 50 years ago (!) they had Mold-a-rama at Disneyland (Mickey and a few other characters), and I think someone had some of the molds and made some represses of those.

But I don't think they lasted long in Disneyland. :( They seem to be a dying breed everywhere; the only place I've ever seen them personally was the Henry Ford Museum.

Did a little research on them. It appears that DL had them back in the 60s.

Lana :)

Never have seen them in DL. For what it's worth, though, they are all over Chicago. (See here.) Don't know why, but several museums and both of our zoos have the machines--there must be a dozen at the Brookfield Zoo in the western suburbs. I know, I spent a day once running around the zoo with a wallet full of singles collecting them--and trying not to burn my hands! (In fact, at this moment, there's a pink aardvark, a light green gorilla, a dark green alligator, and a black Sears Tower sitting on the end table between me and DBF.)

Thanks all. We live near Chicago and have many from around here. We also got a couple in PA last summer so our kids were asking. Guess we'll have to stick to adding to our snowglobe collection instead. I *know* Disney has those. :D

Oh! I had several of those from the San Diego zoo when I was a child. No, not at Disney, sorry. They'd be great, though.

Your post made me chuckle a bit because we too live in the Chicago area and when the kids were younger we used to be members to Brookfield Zoo. Everytime we went my girls had to get a mold-a-rama animal to take home (a cheap souvenier from there). I remember how hot those things were when I used to take them out of the machine. I had to blow on them just so my kids could hold them :rotfl:. Great memories :goodvibes.

Absolutely! :thumbsup2 I simply adored these as a child and my kids have their own collections as well. They were really hot to the touch and had that very usual waxy smell that I loved. Great memories of the Mold A Rama for sure!! :goodvibes

I have an entire collection of Universal Studios monsters I got back in the 90's!

Aww, I miss mold-a-ramas. I had a ton of them in the 80s and early 90s from zoos and other places. I haven't seen one of those in California since around 1992 though. But, wow, I still remember the smell and everything.
