I really wanted to do mojito tasting on this cruise, as I've never done it. But the only times available were 8PM most evenings (so now I have it on pirate night, since I figured there wouldn't be a good show, and there will be a break between dinner and the pirate party). The chocolate and liquor (which I did last summer and loved) is at 4PM on several days (grabbed Day 6). Right now I'm holding both, but ultimately will only do one of them.

Any other pros and and cons I should consider?

Also, I'll be alone this time, if that has any influence on your decision (e.g., we found the chocolate/liquor to be much more reserved than the mixology, so we didn't make any friends like we usually do).

Just wanted to say I hate that the mojito tasting is only offered at 8! It is like that on our sailing as well. We have late dinner so we can't make a single day they offer it! We're doing chocolate and liquor for the first time since the 4:00 time is really best for us.

Is that your fall Fantasy one (based on your signature)? If so, please, please, please would you be kind enough to share the timings of the other tastings?

I've done both and liked the Mojito more than the chocolate/liquor. However I really like mojitos and we did it on CC. We got to make our own drinks, similar to the mixology classes and it was a lot more fun. We did it in 2020, right before covid hit, so I don't know if they let you make your own drinks now. I also wouldn't like the 8pm time. We have late dinner for our next cuise, so I guess I won't be able to do it if it's only offered then on my cruise☹️

I'm sure the mojito tasting is also amazing, but I loved the chocolate and liquor tasting on the Dream. Attila (from Hungary :D ) was our instructor and super! Our pairings also included hard parm cheese and really changed my perspective on how the taste of food and drink enhance each other. Plus everything was delicious. Happy to answer any more questions.20230205_140232.jpg20230205_143811.jpg20230205_143809.jpg

I have done and liked both, and I voted for mojito b/c of the alone part. You will do some muddling and mixing of your own drinks, which both gives you something to do (aside from just sitting/listening/talking) and offers a bit of an ice-breaker IMO.

I'm also hoping they might post more times when we're at port.

Sure. This is what seems to be a general schedule...some things aren't every day (e.g., Cognac and Bourbon seem to alternate)

Rum is at 9:30PM.
Mojitio is 8PM.
Mixology and Champagne 2:30
Mixology also at 2 and 4 on Day 6 (sold out at 4)
Chocolate at 4PM
Bourbon 10PM
Beer Tasting 11AM
Cognac 10PM
Martini Noon
Wine Tasting 2PM
Tequila 4PM

Everything is at 4 or 4:30 on Castaway Day, doesn't look like they are doing anything on the island (Beer, Wine, Mixology and Martini).

If you are want something specific, let me know, and I'll get exact times for it.

I’m in camp Chocolate and Liquor. Timing for the Mojito tasting is definitely a negative, particularly compared to doing it on Castaway Cay at the Heads Up Bar in the afternoon.
Yeah, I was really hoping to be able to do it on the island... maybe they'll add more to the schedule once we're at port.

We had so much fun with the mojito tasting! We made friends that we hung out with for the rest of the cruise at that tasting because we were all having so much fun.

In my experience the mojito tasting is livelier than the chocolate and liquor (I'll let you decide if that's a pro or a con based on what you're looking for). The mojito lineup varies based on what the instructing bartender wants to do and so often you get a bit more of their personality infused into the session. Mojitos is also often (though not always) at Signals sitting at the bar vs chocolate and liquor is usually in a lounge sitting at tables, so it's also a different vibe. The lineup of chocolate and liquor is always the same (other than I have had an instructor switch around what was paired with what). So, if you've already done it, you might want to give mojitos a shot just for something different.

I’ve done each of them and enjoyed them both. I will say that the mojito was definitely livelier because the drinks were large and very strong and by the time the tasting was over everyone was laughing and talking loudly because we were all drunk lol. I did pick the chocolate and liquor tasting in the poll because I’m an introvert and that was more my vibe. I also liked the pairings with the chocolate better.

I voted Choc/Liquor because it's one of my favorites and always sign up for it... and I'm not a big mojito fan. That said, if you've never done mojitos and have been looking forward to it, I say do what you can to try it. That said, I'd recommend doing both!

Is it just you? If you were thinking of doing it with someone else why not take that money, go to a bar and say we want to order the mojitos they do in the tasting to share... Probably cost you about the same price.

Edited - sorry I misread your title... i personally lover the chocolate in liquor. You could still find out the different types of mojitos they would do and just order them at different times during the cruise.

Oh, that's a very interesting idea! I'll do some research on that.

Everyone who has said 'do both' - I'm holding on to both reservations for now in the event I decide to splurge.
