I am in need of a really good moisturizing hand soap. One that is also antibacterial, preferably.
Anyone have any suggestions? This Bath & Body Works crap is useless! My hands smell great, but they feel like sandpaper.
My only suggestion is not to use antibacterial soap at home.
"Moisturizing" and "Antibacterial" tend to be polar opposites when it comes to soap/hand gels/etc.
Softsoap makes one but again, I don't find it all that moisturizing. FWIW I also do not condone the use of antibacterial products unless there is a very specific reason.
Have you tried Gold Bond?
My mom (and sister who just passed) is a diabetic. She tests her sugar three to four times a day and gives herself insulin shots - 4 times a day. Her doctor has never mentioned this. Her doctor and a few nurses have also told her not to use alcohol when testing her sugar especial before giving herself insulin shots. The alcohol goes inside and it stings. She has been told that water is enough. Who knows, you hear something different from everyone all the time.
That's what I was afraid of.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
The endocrinologist specifically said antibacterial soap or an alcohol wipe.I don't have to do insulin shots (keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to, but my sugars have been great so far). I've seen so many different doctors lately, I'm going to ask the next time I'm front of one.
In any case, I didn't realize that Gold Bond made a hand soap. I've used their Ultimate line before...love the body powder!
I have gestational diabetes and was told specifically to use antibacterial soap to wash my hands before testing my blood four times a day. I have to use it those four times. I'm open to having another bottle of hand soap for the in-between times, but would rather not.
I could easily spend a small fortune trying out different soaps, so that is why I asked here.![]()
Sometimes I just wash my hands with the Dawn Antibacterial dishwashing liquid.
Can you just moisturize after you do blood testing?
I think Dial has one too, with aloe in it. Right now I have a few bottles of their winter scents from clearance, but I've never felt my hands feel like sandpaper from that. Softsoap is a little harsher on my hands, along with other off brands.
What about using dish soap? There's several of those that are focusing more on hand moisturizers and some of them are anti-bacterial.
I would definitely go with thorough hand washing and alcohol wipes. There is a lot of bad stuff in a lot of antibacterial soaps.

I would seriously be afraid of passing this chemical onto my unborn child.
I would use the alcohol prep pads. Cheaper , less harsh ( only a small area vs the whole hand) and easier to carry with you for those times you are checking your sugar levels and not at home.
