I can't comment on this particular ban because I don't even know the people involved. I'm bothered that some are so quick to judge a player and proclaim that VMK doesn't ban people for no reason. I'd just like to remind people that some players have apparently been accidentally banned, perhaps for no reason. They contacted VMK through the Contact Us page and got their accounts re-instated. I believe it was Schnerk who was unbanned in world record time.

So, it is entirely possible that Arfy was banned by mistake and it is entirely possible that Raineforst's letter will be read quickly and it is entirely possible that their ban could be lifted.

I wish both Arfy and Raineforst good luck!

Well, I am a grown-up who has to deal with WAY too much of the real world (in my humble opinion) and I can tell you, I would be VERY sad if I was banned from VMK. I have spent a lot of time on my character, and VMK is a hobby I'm passionate about. So, I really do feel terrible for someone who gets banned (unless of course they are doing something truly wrong, then Sayonara...).

Having said that (and I'm not condoning anything here, I'm just passing on info) - there are ways to "change IP address"es. One would simply google the term to see how to do it. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Did I ever say I cried? Or my sister? I was listing things that people may feel when something like this happens to them. Would you tell a little kid they couldn't cry? I remember several posts from parents of children on ths dis boards that were banned. I'm not a child but it's still okay to be a little upset over something. I wouldn't judge anyone if they did cry no matter who they were. It may be the truth that they don't care... that's fine, so be it... but you'll never know unless you try. It's not that you're saying things outright meanly but the comments are seeming quite sarcastic. Especially you're last one... you don't know me, I've had more bad things in the real world happen that far exceed the effects that any game could have on me and I can handle things just fine. But who cares? That is irrelevant. Is my world destroyed that I can't play vmk? Far from it... But I'm not going to be thrilled about being banned. I'm not going continue and argue/defend over this... I didn't post on here to start any chaos... I just wanted to say we're banned, it's not cool, I sent my input to vmk, and we'll just see what happens. I thank qruthie and princessop for your wish of good luck.

I absolute hate it when they have your ban after your birthday. It really isn't fun. You can't have fun with your VMK friends or anything. Sooner or later I'll get banned with one of my non-DIS friends. (If you'd really like to know pm me)

That's probably what happened. Or someone reported you for fun, and tried to get you banned.

I'm So sorry to hear about your ban. I understand that staff can sometimes be a bummer to things, but hey, it's life. I hope you get your unfair ban lifted. In the meantime, at least Have a Happy Birthday, and a Merry Christmas.

yeah it seriously stinks since im banned with her.. eh staff banned people fro the wrong reasons. the reason she was banned was becuase she WAS GIVING out random numbers and i was there and i got banned with her, but sadly i can wait, cause i got my DS Lite early as a gift but, then again second banned it stinks one more strike and a permanent..

Vmk has banned the wrong people before, but I think you were banned for no reason or just because they don't like you. If you repeated what the one girl said to you, that's why you got the 2 hour ban. You can only repeat things like that in the report windows, if you say it anywhere else you can and probably will get banned. The month long ban wasn't for no reason either. By saying 572, they can think that it's an area code since it is a real one which would explain the personal information thing. Sorry about the ban, Arfy, but in my opinion, they did have a reason even if it was a misunderstanding. GL to you and your sister on getting it straightened out though.

Raineforst, I'm an adult and I'd be quite concerned if your sister or you weren't upset about a ban. It's human to feel sad when something bad happens. People who feel nothing aren't typical. For example, my autistic cousin doesn't feel emotions. He has been taught how to respond properly but he doesn't feel sadness or worse, he doesn't feel fear.

I admire you're concern and support for your little sister. Her first post seemed to be a bit irrational so I'm glad to see you showing her how to handle the problem in a more mature manner. Keep your chin up and know you are doing the right thing by asking about the ban. Hopefully you will find out whether the ban is justified.

thats ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS. if someone got ur info, that stinks. but if they logged on it with their computer and got u banned, they would also be banned....not to bright, i dont think thats a possibility.

AvastPirateBen does have a good point. But what if they didn't care if they got banned too? Some players don't care if they got banned. Like my friend that quit. He didn't care if he got banned. He cursed, so I reported the message. Yeah, that was mean of me, but it did teach him a lesson. You should see him now he's saying much worse thing than just that little message.

I think what you are trying to say is, if someone got Arfy's information and got Arfy banned, it would be the hacker's IP that was banned, not Arfy's and Raineforst's. It's not so much whether or not a hacker cared about being banned, in this case, if there is a hacker, they are using the same computer as Arfy and Raineforst. That's not very likely.

Hackers are not going to waste their time looking for VMK accounts, they are after bigger things, like Credit Cards and Bank info. If your account was "hacked" it was more likely that someone you know either sat at your PC or you gave them your info, or your info was incredibly easy to get from you (to someone who knows you)

I agree with you when you say it's the credit card numbers and such they go for. I had my identity stolen several years ago by someone who hacked into a database. I was sort of lucky because their goal was to use one of my credit cards rather than totally destroy my credit. There's nothing like getting a phone call to approve your purchase of $30,000.00 worth of contact lenses to get your adrenaline pumping. This particular hack was so big that I even got a letter from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to tell me my info had been stolen. Granted it was over a year after the info was stolen but I do have a letter that I can show if I need proof when I apply for credit.

I am not to sure about that. With stitch hats and inferno going for over $200 on eBay and VMK being populated by a lot of kids that may not know alot about security, It seems VMK might be an easy mark

Just look at all the trojans out there that collect Ultima Online and Warcaft passwords
