And then there is my favoirte. While I was at Disneyland Paris I met my "fellow Americans" who WHINED that things were in FRENCH.
Doesn't this just kill ya? Hello .... we're not in the US anymore, folks!

I loved being in Paris and trying to converse w/people in French. Unfortunately for me, they were less interested in my French and more interested in brushing up on their English!!!! However, I did find a few people that would ask me questions in English and I'd reply in French ... and vice versa.

Would you just read the post? Seems like you are totally confused and trying to add words to my post. I never slammed anyone -- just pointed out what many (and I mean many) other posters have witnessed and experienced. That's all. I can't help it that one particular group of individuals stood out. Again, you obviously went off on your own tangent and did not read my post. ;)

Your post was hateful and rude. If you don't like the response it gets then quit being hateful and promoting bigotry.

I was in Epcot two weeks ago and saw LOTS of Brazilian tour groups and had no issues.

I have seen some American teens I wanted to strangle, but I don't call ALL American teens Brats....

I think this is America and everyone should speak English. I understand it is not the native language of the world, but I think if you are going to another country that the native language is different from yours you should know enough to survive. I would never go to Italy and expect to hear English or France and hear English. I would expect to hear Italian and French. The princesses should speak English, and signs should have English on them. This country was founded on the English language, and should stay that way. I'm tired of people's intolerance toward the American culture. Up until about 15 years ago people wanted to come to this country so badly, and were willing to do what they had to to get citizenship. Now we are catering to these people more and more. There is no reason for this.
YES! :thumbsup2

Sigh. Obviously you have trouble reading, too. :sad2:

Or hey, why not Brazil. That way, all the Brazillian brats who cause so much embarrassment to their country by their horrible behavior at WDW can stay in their own backyard and keep the heck out of ours. Then they can misbehave as much as they want and no one would care. :thumbsup2
"All the Brazillion brats...can stay in their own backyard and keep the heck out of ours" sounded very bigoted.

Were you being sarcastic, as in people shouldn't make fun of the Brazillians?

Sorry -- needed to add a little levity here! :teeth:
Then I will beat you with my too expensive purse! :goodvibes

Are you kidding me ... why don't you read your own post:

That's not a slam!?!? (Bolding is mine) If that's being polite ... wow! You call them brats, an embarrassment to their country, etc. Maybe you feel that way ... and maybe other people do. I'm just pointing out that each country has brats for kids, some run amock in our country ...maybe not at Disney World, but there's more to the US than Disney World.

I live near Niagara Falls. Huuge tourist spot. Talk about tour groups all the time -- constantly in the malls, etc. I've seen teens from other parts of the US, as well as other countries, act far worse than the Brazilians!

How would you feel if someone said this about a tour group that included your kids!? What if another country was complaining about the obnoxious tours of US kids who constantly come and act so obnoxiously?

I see no problem having Princesses that speak more than one language, it makes it more magical for the children. It would be nice, however if Spanish was not the only language being considered. I would rather see them learn some general phrases in several languages-hello, goodbye, nice to meet you, stuff like that. These are short autograph, character greet sessions-there's not a lot of time for long conversations in any language.

What about adding Polish, German, French, Czech, Dutch.....just a few general greeting phrases would be magical!!!

If you're being sarcastic in your post, you OBVIOUSLY should have said so b/c it appears as if I'm not the only one who took your post as rude!!!! If it is sarcastic, your attempt as sarcasm is v. poor.

I would hate for you to ruin your expensive purse. Here, take one of mine and I'll "watch" over yours. Yeah, that's it..."watch" the purse. :rotfl2:

Oh, get serious. I just didn't have time to post, "All the French brats can stay in France. And all the German brats can stay in Germany. And all the Japanese brats can stay in Japan, etc., etc., etc. I'm not sure about you, but my life is too full to list every freaking country! lol

I would feel the same way if I lived in another country (let's say Sweden) and American kids came over to my country and caused a lot of issues and embarrassment. I would want them to go back where they came from (USA) as well. I get appalled when I do see American kids (and even adults!) behave so horribly in front of those who are not American, rather in our country or theirs.

I believe no matter where you are, no matter what age you are, you should always try to stand out more positively, especially when visiting foreign countries. Not sure about you, but I would want them to say, "we welcome Americans". Not, "Oh no, those bratty American kids are back again"! (which some may do, but I have not seen it posted here on the Dis Board by Disneyland Paris or other locations).

Now -- GETTING BACK TO THE OP . . .

I just realized that no one ever answered my question about the small world ride. How come there aren't threads complaining that the song is sung in different languages when the ride is in an English speaking country? I've never seen a person complain about that...so now that Disney dares to expand that to something else on their property, people are now going to make a big deal about it? We should probably then ban the Epcot passports too...since the CMs tend to write small phrases in their native language. And while we're at it, let's get rid of the Spanish translation of the monorail spiel.

Because many different languages are incorporated into the ride, not just Spanish. It is a small world after all!
PS I am a liberal and proud of it, but I agree with Carol above, have the Princesses speak in the language matching the role they are playing.
Bi Lingual princesses may cost a little more but would be well worth it for international appeal. Disney World attracts people from all over the world, let's keep it that way.

This one's for Disneyaggie. Maybe a further explanation is necessary:

No matter what country (or multiples of countries) you posted, it still isn't a nice thing to say.
What don't you understand? Calling people brats isn't nice. You called the Brazilians brats, Then, you proceeded to say

so it appears to most readers that you are calling children from multiple countries brats. That's not nice. Didn't anyone tell you that it isn't nice to call people names?

I'm sure glad that a bunch of Americans didn't tell my immigrant family to "stay at home" b/c I'm sure that, at times, my great-grandfather, as a child, might've been obnoxious.
My great-great grandparents were immigrants to the US and brought along their child (my great grandfather). Thankfully, if my foreign born great grandfather acted obnoxious, people didn't tell my family that they should've stayed in Germany.

I don't know how to make this any more clear to you.

I agree with you about more than just Spanish being incorporated...my reference is to the fact that apparently some people here have strong issues with anyone speaking ANY foreign language on American soil. Which is why I brought up the examples I did. I haven't seen a complaint about the monorail spiel...since some of that is Spanish (and not antoher language). And another poster mentioned that some announcements are done in another language as well. I think I've heard Spanish and French in the past. Yet no one came on here complaining about that. So really, IMO, it's a little late to be complaining about differently languages being used at Disney. That ship sailed a long time ago.

Huh? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. :confused3

Never mind. :sad2:

I understand. We have become way too egocentric. All we need to do is turn on CNN to see that. :sad2:

My Spanish professor - sorry, she'd drop over dead if she knew I said that...professora - for one, doesn't like to be classified as non-white. Neither does my neighbor, Marta. They both come from Mexico, one from Chihuahua, specifically. They ARE white!

Yo hablo un poquito...ito...ITO espanol. Quiero ir a WDW a ver Mickey. I probably got that wrong. It is my first class. :)

For a first class, it was very good. Just remember: ñ (for español) hold alt + 164
