Modifying with borrowed points

Aloha , does online automatically prioritize using borrowed points before current use year when modifying ? I read somewhere you have to call to have it allocated that way and also read that it does it automatically... thanks in advance

Borrowed points will be used before the current UY's allotment of points is touched. This is done automatically even if you prioritize Contract C (with no borrowed points) ahead of Contracts A & B (with borrowed points). The system will pull from A's & B's borrowed points first and then take the current UY's points from C next.

The only time that the borrowed points in the above example would not be used would be if you don't check off Contracts A & B at all when choosing which contracts to use for the reservation.

To add, if you cancel a trip that used borrowed points, the system will not automatically move them into another trip you hsve booked,


You have to do that yourself.

Yes, the system will always use up the restricted points first. Just be sure you modify at least 31 days or more so you don’t end up with holding points Since you are reducing the points needed.

Like sandisw said, when you modify the borrowed points will be used first. But I wanted to reassure you that on the final confirmation page there is a link you can click (I believe it’s called “points summary”) to see which points were used … I like to take screenshots of the points breakdown when it’s a complicated ressie.

If I cancel a reservation that is using borrowed points, the way that I get those borrowed points re-assigned to a previously existing reservation is to modify that existing reservation after cancelling the other one (without making any changes to the dates, room type, etc.) and then the system will bring in those now-available borrowed points to replace current UY points, correct?

Correct with one word of caution. This works as long as the contract(s) with the borrowed points are included in the list of contracts to be used for the modified reservation.

To add, you also need to modify any trip to reallocate points at least 31 days or more to avoid holding points.
