Modifying Waitlist - issues?

I have 2 waitlists in place since April for an October trip for 3 nights. I have also been stalking the reservation system and the first night came available today so I booked it. Now, I only need 2 nights of that waitlist instead of 3. Question is if I modify it just for 2 nights do I go "back in the line" for my waitlist or will my April WL original date remain? Thanks!

The only change you can make to a wait list entry is the expiration (7 or 31 days). Any other change will require you to cancel the current wait list and start a new one.

It will move you but it doesn’t really matter because you increase your odds by only needing two nights.

They do not hold rooms to fill them so if those two nights become available you’d jump over your old place in line anyway as waitlists must be an exact match!

If you only need two nights now I would do the WL for one night each.
