Modifying Reservation Question

If I have a 7 night stay booked and go in to modify the first 4 nights to a different room type, will that cancel the remaining 3 nights? I don't want to take that chance with the cancellation or do I have to call MS to do this type of modification?

Yes, if you use modify. You need to do a new reservation and modify the old one to three nights. Or call MS if you can get them. They may be furloughed.

If you modify the existing reservation online, you will lose the last 3 nights. If you have enough points to book the first four nights while keeping the existing reservation, do that. Then modify the 7 night reservation to be just the last 3 nights.

If you don't have enough to book the first four nights without using points from the existing reservation, call MS & ask if they could do it without losing what you want to keep.

Thanks for the replies- the room is gone anyways but just wondering for the future. I currently have a 7 day 1 bedroom stay at Riviera. A 2 bedroom opened up for the first 5 nights. I was going to make the switch but can't chance losing the last 2 nights (we would keep the last 2 days and switch rooms; figured a 2 night waitlist was easier than a 7) so I figured I would wait it out to see. I don't have enough points for the 2 reservations. Not important enough to call MS.

@aokeefe - Looks like @Deb & Bill interpreted your post differently than I did. What reservation(s) do you actually want to end up with?

I think we were saying about the same thing. I said to modify to drop the four nights and just keep the three. Then make a new reservation for the four if you can get them.
