Modifying National car times

Hi,

I currently have a rental for 2/17-2/21 for an intermediate from National for $95 total (renting at Sanford/returning to Orlando). Just got a phone call from our airline - both our arriving and departing flights were changed by about 1 1/2 hours. If I go on National's site to modify the times, will that change my price? I'm concerned because I keep checking the rates and get messages like "coupon not valid - at capacity" and "no cars available". This is Daytona 500 weekend. Anyone ever change times (without changing the total rental time) and keep the same rates?

Hi! As long as you are not changing the overall amount of time you're renting, it should not affect the price, which sounds like the case. For example, I start looking at National's rates before I even book my flights, and often just go ahead and book my car from arrival day at 2:00 p.m. to departure day at 2:00 p.m. Then I go back in when I have my flights and modify the reservation to the right times (e.g., pick up at 3:00 p.m., drop off at 12:30 p.m.). Note that I don't add any time to the overall rental.

If you go into National's site and choose View/Modify/Cancel Reservation, then modify the reservation using the new times, the final screen will show you both reservations side-by-side and ask you which one you want to keep, the original or the modified. That way you're positive the flight time changes didn't affect the total cost, before you have "officially" changed them.

The same thing just happened to me. My flight times were moved 1 hour and 15 minutes earlier.

I just went to National and modified my reservation. I simply moved the times up 1 hour for pick up and drop off. The price stayed the same.

I had to change my ressie just yesterday, our return flight was cancelled and rebooked next day, afternoon. Made the changes in the modify screen and check it against the existing ressie and all stayed the same expect for the return day and time, check the e-mail to insure it was ok and my cost was even the same!
