Modifying Bookings

I've read that unless you transfer in points that are the same home resort and UY as your membership, the transferred points are not visible online, and bookings have to be made by phone.

Could someone please tell me, after bookings are made over the phone using transferred points -
1. Are the bookings visible online?
2. Can they be modifiable online?

Thank you! :)

Bookings are indeed viewable online just as it would be had you booked with your own points.
2. Can they be modifiable online?
Bookings can be modified online, but you won’t have access to the points that were transferred into your account. If you modify a reservation made with points transferred in, when you modify, any new booking will draw only on your online-accessible points, even if the change is point neutral.

Say you have transferred in 100 cheap SAP points to book a stay within 7 months, combined with 200 of your own points. You phone in to book a 1 week stay. By way of stalking you see a cheaper category room open up or decide to move your check in or check out date. Any attempt to modify the original booking will only allow you to book the new dates with your personal 200 points, and the transferred in 100 points will disappear into the ether (online). You will have to phone in a modification if you wish to use those 100 transferred points even if the room is cheaper by 20 points, as you’ll be 80 points short based on what you have accessible to you online.

To add, there are reports that even same resort and UY are no longer showing up online,

So, any and all transferred points can only be booked by MS, which includes when modifying a reservation,

The other thing I recently learned, is that if you have borrowed points in your account and transferred points, it will use up all the borrowed before the transferred points.

I just did this between my own accounts. I had to rearrange things by canceling one night, booking what I wanted earlier to use up the more borrowed points and then rebook that one night so the transferred points could be used.

Simply put:

Everything you want to do with transferred points requires a call to MS. The only exception is cancelling an existing reservation that used them.

While it's true that transferred points with the same use year and home resort may show in your online account, it actually depends on how the CM made the transfer. CMs do not always complete a transfer such that the transferred points show online, even when it's possible for them to do so.

Thank you for your replies! Oh well, there goes another potentially workable solution to our point shortage. What to do, what to do? :scratchin

I am one that have had transfers end up both ways even if same home resort and UY. When they are done so that you can see them then they are just like your own points and you can modify with them online. If not then you have to call. Even so the points were not transferred as bankable but I used them so didn't call to get that status changed to see if I also could bank them online.

If you try to modify a reservation with transferred points, it won't let you do it. You have to call MS.

Time to add on! Lol

What a brilliant idea! I might have been stalking all major resale brokers, checking out Riviera (unfortunately, not for us), and the worst one, following the ROFR thread again... No harm to get a feel of the current market conditions, right?:rotfl2:

Have done several transfers over the years. In the past, same resort and UY would show online. However, the most recent did not, so I'm thinking something may have changed in the way they are handling transfers into accounts.

As others have said, all booking and modification using points transferred in require a call to MS.
