Modifying a reservation at 7 mo

I currently have a reservation at AKL-Kidani (our home resort) for Nov 5-10, 2014. We would like to switch to a host resort for the Wine and Dine Half and our day to do that is this Saturday, April 5th.

Do I cancel my existing reservation so I can use the points for the new reservation or is there a way to just modify online? I think from looking we are going to have to stay at Saratoga Springs as that is the only resort that has availability for that time period.

If anyone has any suggestions, I am open and willing to learn. We just came back from a Spring Break trip with the kids which was our first time ever to FL, but the November trip will just be Hubby and I, so a studio will be fine.

You can not modify a reservation online. You can cancel and try to rebook what you want. Personally, what I do is call MS because I don't want to chance losing my first reservation if I can't switch to different resort.

The on-line system does not allow for modifications. It will only allow you to cancel the entire reservation or add a dining plan.

If you see AKV & SSR available for your dates, I'd cancel the AKV and rebook SSR.

We will be doing the same thing-maybe. SSR is 10 points more, so not sure it's worth it, plus the bus stop is at the main building only, so depending on where you get, it could be quit a walk. We are kicking around cabbing it to the 5K and back and back from the half. To and from the expo and to the half, we are thinking of using the regular Disney busses to a park, then hopping on another bus to a host resort, then taking that bus to the expo and half.

You know if you have a car you can park in the AK parking lot for the 5k and also park at Epcot to pickup the bus to beginning of 1/2? Then your car will be there for you when you're done

When we did W&D the traffic and parking for the expo was just unbelievably crowded. If you drive, get there early or be prepared to wait in long lines to get into the parking lot.

No car for us, flying and taking ME from MCO to AKV. Not sure what to do

So I switched us from AKL to SSR this morning. It was only 6 points more so it's worth it to us just for the bus access being a host resort. We loved AKL last month but also want to see a new resort since likely we won't be returning for at least five or more years. We also will be staying one night post cruise and haven't decided where we would like to try. I did wait list Boardwalk Villas for Nov 5-10 but am not anticipating it will come through though. Oh what fun it is to wake up at 5am to change reservations!

SSR has 5 bus stops within the resort. Every time you get on a bus it loops the resort before leaving. Similar to POR.

We really enjoy SSR. We love being so close to DTD and we also love being on the golf course. My husbands and sons usually do a few rounds during a trip while daughter and shop in DTD or hit the pool.
