Modify to add guests - How to add on My Disney Experience?

I had a DVC stay booked on points with my husband and I. I linked it to my Disney account.

My parents decided to come on the trip too. They have never been to Disney World.

They each created a My Disney Experience account. We linked as Family & Friends.

I modified my DVC stay to add my parents as guests in our room. I made sure to use the same name, email and phone number that my parents used to create their My Disney Experience accounts.

When I look at my DVC reservation in the app now, I can see that two additional guests have been added but it has not recognized that those two additional guests are my parents from my Friends & Family list. So my parents are not linked to our reservation, which I think will cause problems when I try to book lightning lanes 7 days in advance for everyone.

Does anyone know how to link my parents to the DVC reservation, without starting check in? I read that once you start check in, it might let you select the additional occupants from your Friends & Family list. However, I do not want to start check in yet because I am waitlisting a different resort for this trip.

Have your parents tried using your booking number to add a resort stay to their MDE account? I'm not sure if that will make the connection, but since I add my DVC stays to my MDE account using the booking number, it may work when adding others as well.

Try viewing the reservation in MDE from the desktop website. You should be able to update the party there.

We have had to call Disney IT to have them match people to our reservation even though they were in the friends and family list. They were able to fix it pretty quickly.
