Moderates. . .preferences?

Good food for thought so far. It's our first time not staying on DVC points, so I want to surprise my family with a great experience.

I do think we would prefer a queen sized bed, but if they've been refurbed as everyone says, then we don't have to worry.

Keep em coming folks, loving the info.

POR is my vote. Loved the view and the grounds and ability to catch a boat to DTD. CBR is a huge resort and the full size/vs queen sized beds is definitely a plus for POR.

We enjoy CB but it is the only moderate we have tried. The pirate themed rooms are really fun for kids and they were the most recently renovated rooms at CB.

We've only been to POFQ, but we loved it. DS was 2 when we went and he loved the grounds, and the pool. It was nice to not have a long walk to the bus stop, and the staff was super friendly. Rooms were great - and we went before the rehab, so I'm sure they are even better now.

With the ages of your girls, I definatly vote for CBR for the pirate water play area. It has a dump bucket, kid sized slides and if fully fenced, so that means mom and dad can relax too and not worry about escapies or your little one getting in water that is over their head.

So let me confirm. Riverside. definitely 100% queen sized beds, right? The website says double, and I'm not trusting a CM to tell me one way or the other, unless said CM works at POR and is a DISer.

Never trust a CM, Dis'ers in general are more informed :lmao: (truly they are) YES from what I've read over and over all rooms @ PO (FQ & R) have queen beds now instead of doubles

Another vote for CBR. This is the only mod resort weve stayed @ and love it. The Caribbean music, feel, landscaping and the pirate ship kiddie area will be perfect for your little one. Our 4 yr old DD loves the pool area, she has been to this resort 3 different times and thats one of the main reasons we kept going back! The double beds didnt bother us, the one trip it was myself, DH, DD and Mother-in-law and it worked out good. DH and myself shared a bed & DD and mother-in-law shared the other bed! :thumbsup2

We are planning on sneaking into the world after our cruise in October, and won't have anymore DVC points left, so we'll be staying at a moderate for a couple of days.

I'm just looking for some advice from you learned people out there.

Our plan: arrive on Thursday, relax, go to MK on Friday, EPCOT on Saturday, go home on Sunday.

So since we'll be going to MK and EPCOT, weve ruled out Coronado, and narrowed it to Caribbean Beach or one of the Port Orleans.

Which of these three resorts do people prefer, and why? It's me, my wife and our 3 year old daughter who loves pools and water slides (but we're not going to a water park).
Not to sound rude or anything but may I ask why you ruled out coronado springs? I know you will be visiting magic kingdom and epcot but literally the bus ride is only another 5 minutes more. And, you're missing out on possibly the best moderate resort. Just having the bus service at csr will more than compensate for that extra 5 minutes too. No waiting never a full bus.

Plus the 2nd or 3rd best pool on Disney property.(including deluxe )
Also all updated rooms with the most comfy queens beds.

Pepper market is nice and easy to navigate with great food. Nice lounge and ts restaurant too.

Grounds are gorgeous, nice play area for your daughter. Honestly i cant say a bad thing about it. Im sure others will chime in to this. Check out the csr thread. You wont b disappointed.

If you definitely ruled it out then normally i would go with por next.
But with your 3 yr old i would suggest POFQ just for the small size.

In any case hope you have a great time..and remember csr is like a deluxe lite.lol

We actually like Coronado Springs. We ate at the TS joint last year, and liked it alot, but actually, thie distance did add into the decision, but the spread out size of the resort was a bigger contributer. That, and a couple other reasons, are why I think we're going with POFQ.

OH, and my entire clan is from Bergan County, Leonia to be exact.

POFQ is nice... it's just that csr felt overwhelmingly more like a deluxe at a mod price that's all. Make sure you use the amenities over at por and also the boat to dtd. And both lounges are good but yeehaw bobs is really really awesome.

And b.t.w. just a short distance away from. Leonia. Grew up in cliffside park... have fun.

we normally stay at Saratoga, just blew our points on the cruise this year, and since the drive home takes us through WDW, and we missed Merida last month when we were there, we HAVE to stop again dontchaknow.

The rooms are a little larger than at the other mods as well - 340 sq ft instead of 314 sq ft. Great resort! It's close to Epcot and not too far fro MK. The theme is exquisite. You daughter will really enjoy the pool there.

Thanks so much to everyone for your input.

I decided on POFQ, for a variety of reasons. . .

the size of the resort is good for us
the waterslide isn't too big, but our 3 year old will still LOVE it
we live in Mobile, Al, the home of the original Mardi Gras celebration, but my wife has kept hounding me to take our kid to New Orleans. This lets us celebrate Mardi Gras more like we do here in Mobile (family friendly) and as an added bonus, none of the open urinal smell of New Orleans.

Can't wait. 120 days until we're cruisin'.

We stayed at POR last month in Building 38 (Alligator Bayou) and it was 2 queen beds and a kids murphy bed. The room was one of the new Princess and the Frog themed (Not "Princess" room just themed with movie stuff) and we love it. Having stayed at all but POFQ we prefer POR and then CBR. We had some bad experiences at CSR and I doubt we'll return. POR gets my vote!
