Moderate vs. Deluxe

Hi Everyone! I'm hoping you can help me out. I am travelling with 4 girlfriends (we are all in our mid-20s) in late October to Disney for 4 or 5 nights (then one night at Universal). We are debating between staying at either a Moderate (CBR or POR) or Deluxe (BC or Poly) with 4 day base tickets, likely not paying for the dining plan (I just think it's too much food, and there's no way we'd spend $63 each per night). We likely won't be spending toooooo much time at the resort (although I think if it's a Deluxe I'd spend time wandering around and just soaking it all in!)

We have a good deal either way - Moderates are about $2160 for the four of us (room+4 day base tickets), and the Deluxe are about $3033-3332, including the same thing. Our dates do not fall in the FD promo. Thoughts? I've only ever stayed at Values on site (AoA and Pop) and I would LOVE to stay Deluxe (especially at the Poly, it's on the monorail!!). What are your thoughts? Do we splurge on the Deluxe?

Thanks in advance! :)

If you can afford it, in Oct I'd stay at BC. Food and Wine is basically outside the door. BUT POR is very nice, so I would jump at the chance to save $$$.

If you're planning on spending a lot of time at parks or Disney Springs, stick with POR and save the money for indulgences.

A Deluxe won't do much to upgrade the actual sleeping surfaces, more the resort amenities.

I agree ... But the quick walk to world showcase from BC (food and wine festival) is the way to go if you can afford it

I'd go in between and go for Coronado springs business class. Included light breakfast every morning and snacks, beer, wine, sangria every evening. All included with business class. Amazing pool and grounds too!

We did POR last year during October (F&W festival). We enjoyed it, but this year we are splurging on the Beach Club during that time. We decided for the Food and Wine festival the extra was worth it! Any other time of the year, you will find us at the moderates!

Do the Poly! So many reasons but think about being on the monorail route, Lapu Lapu, etc...

If money is not an issue and booking the deluxe doesn't require you to cut costs somewhere else, then to me it's a no brainer to go deluxe.

As you said "I would LOVe to stay deluxe and especially the Poly" I would definitely stay at the Poly if it is in the budget.

Have you given any thoughts on renting points from a broker..? We stay DVC BLT studio for the price of a moderate....and that's a whole step up....location...

But, as for a moderate, we're sold on POFQ....so small and compact, not a building anywhere out of touch....Riverside is huge, 4 bus stops compared to POFQ....just too much walking is you're in a far out building...I walk enough in a park...

As for the dining plan, never had an interest...it's not how we eat...hate schedules and vacations run by a clock...plus we share just about every meal....after 56 trips, our food for 2 adults, 7 days never reaches 250.00...

Good luck with your choice but give renting points a search...better accommodations for less money...
