Moderate, Values and king size beds

Of course you can get a King size bed at the Dolphin. (Deluxe resort at moderate price!)

Do any of the above have king size beds w/out taking a handicap room?
There is no such thing as a Disney resort who's only king-size beds are in wheelchair-accessible rooms. It may be that all wheelchair accessible rooms have king-size beds, but it is very very definitely NOT true that all rooms with king-size beds are wheelchair accessible.

At the four Moderate resorts, king-size bed is a separate room category ... you must reserve a room with a king-size bed and you will pay extra per night as compared with a standard room. It's not just a request, it's a paid-for upgrade, a separate booking category.

At the four Value resorts, you can't book and guarantee a room with a king-size bed but you can request one. It won't cost more than any other room because it's simply a request, it's NOT a separate booking category.

True! Once when I walked into my room at AS Sports I found I had been assigned a king size bed and immediately ran into the restroom. I'm a bubble bath person and no way was I staying in a room with only a shower, which is what I assumed the room had. I was pleasantly surprised to find a really large bathroom that had a tub with shower rails and an elevated commode. I had not requested anything other than ground floor close as possible to main building. Another time I had checked into CSR to find a king size bed with just a regular bathroom (standard size with regular tub and commode=no rails). So even though my AS Sports room was technically a handicap room with a king bed, I still had the bathtub (not just a shower) and the room at CSR was just a standard king room with no signs of being a handicap room at all.

We just stayed at CSR in a non-accessible king room. Very comfy!

My ex and I stayed at CBR in a king sized bed and had a lovely time! We DID book it that way, I think it was something like $10 more per night. Worth It.

I'm going at the end of September solo to re-charge before the Wine/Dine half marathon, but since I'm going alone I'm staying at AS Music. I hope hope hope I get a king!
I'm putting in a request!

We have stayed king without handicap rooms many times at the POFQ and CBR....we usually get those rooms at the Swalphin, YC and AKL

I seem to always get them at POR when I go by myself.

It is nice, because they are usually corner rooms and have two windows. I had a beautiful view of the river last year.

I don't know how it's supposed to work but I booked one night at POP on our arrival day and when the CM was searching for us a room he asked if a King bed room would be okay. It's just my DGD7 and I so I said that it would work. Either way was fine. My reservation for POP just states perfered room though.

I've also heard many times that bunk bed rooms at AKL were request only but when I was upgrading from standard view to pool view he asked me if a bunk bed room would be okay. I said fine..either way is fine, it's just the two of us. My reservation states it's a pool view bunk bed room. I was surprised about that because I've always heard it was a request only. To be honest, I haven't even told DGD about it because I don't want her to be disappointed if we don't actually get one.

Right, this is consistent with what I wrote. Pop Century is a Value resort. At Value resorts, a king-size bed room is NOT a separate, more expensive booking category. Some people will get a king "just because."

For about the past 2 years, bunk bed rooms have been a separate and more expensive booking category. Anyone simply requesting a bunk bed room, as opposed to booking it and paying extra for it, is in essence requesting a free upgrade.

I have stayed in non disabled king bed rooms in CBR, AKL, and POP.. Hope this helps. :thumbsup2

I for one am so glad they made King rooms at the mods a room category that you can pay for. We always requested a king, but sometimes didn't get one. I'm glad to pay a little extra for what to me is a perk. All the king rooms we have stayed in have been regular rooms, no handicapped accessibility.

Value resorts also have some king size beds but they are by request so you may not get one.

Are there two kings in the king bed rooms or just one? Specifically wondering about POFQ & POR.
Thanks!

Moderate and value resort rooms with king beds only have one bed.

Some moderates have 2 queen beds.
Port Orleans French Quarter is one that has 2 queens.

Just one. And the maximum occupancy of a king room is 2, plus an infant under 3 years old.

No, there is only one king bed or two standard beds.

I realized after I posted that, that it would either be one K or two smaller beds. Are the 2 standard beds typically 2 queens or 2 fulls? from what I've been reading POFQ was refurbished including 2 queens, what about POR? Do they all have 2 doubles until it's refurbed?
Thanks.

Port Orleans French Quarter and Coronado Springs Resort have queen beds. Port Orleans Riverside and Caribbean Beach Resort have what are called, depending on your region, standard or full or double beds.
