I posted before "who had the most romantic moderate resort" & no one replied. :sad2:
I was wondering what are some of your opinions?
Also, is it true that if you tell them about a special occasion or anniversary that they'll leave something nice in your room?
Any info would be appreciated. :)

Yes, I would love to know the answer to this one as well....
I will be staying at SSR in a 1 room Villa. I was wondering if this has any romance level. It seems to be very quiet and serene.

I believe CSR is a very romantic resort. It's very lovely to walk around at night when it is all lite up. Check out my website below for pics and info.

We went to CBR for our honeymoon, but it was a while ago so I don't know if the hotel has changed. I thought it was very romantic. I liked the whole beach feel that it had. The grounds were beautiful, and with all the greenery it felt very private. I also liked the smaller pools. They weren't crowded at all when we went.
They knew it was our Honeymoon, and they didn't leave anything special in our room. We weren't expecting anything though, so it didn't bother us. Everyone was very nice, and many people said congratulations.

probably not many answers cause romantic is very subjective, what are you looking for? for most of my life a six pack and a pizza was about all i needed for romance. others like violins and rain on the roof. i would think that for most young women POFQ would fit the bill very nicely, it is compact and serene. my choice would be POR for the beauty of the landscaping, the gazebos and the carriage ride.

I would throw POFQ out there as romantic...it has a very nice, laid back New Orleans style feel. They have carriage rides as well :) We enjoyed it immensely! I also have heard that "sometimes" they may leave you something nice, but that is strictly pixie dust...it may or may not happen, so its best not to expect it...hth! :)

CBR is mine and my husband's favorite moderate resort. We celebrated with an adults only vacation when he returned from Iraq...that is after we celebrated on a vacation with the children. CBR was the absolute best choice for us. We loved the themeing, caribbean music, but especially the lay-out of this resort. It gave us soooo much more privacy than other moderate resorts we've stayed at in the past. The location is fantastic...close enough to view the higher up fireworks of Illuminations as you relax in a hammock together. The path ways around the resort are wonderful and there are many nice romantic spots along the way, especially over the island. CBR all the way for us!!!!

DW & I have stayed at POFQ & CSR. They were both nice. However, at CSR, we were given an upgrade to a top floor corner room with a lake view. It was beautiful! The grounds at CSR are so nice & the pool is one of Disney's best, IMO. Also, I believe I'm correct in saying CSR does not share a bus route with any other resort. I vote for CSR!

So far it's a three way tie!!! Keep those votes coming. :thumbsup2

CSR is the only moderate that I've stayed at so far. And it really is a lovely and I think romantic resort. At night the resort is lit up beautifully and the white sandy beaches in the Cabana section was really nice for an evening stroll.

stayed at POFQ, POR and CSR....

out of those 3 for a romance I would go with CSR...grounds are lovely, rooms nice and the standard views are so much better than POFQ and POR...

nice bar, pool, restaurant

but IMHO I would stay at Dolphin. Pools, restaurants and ambience alone win on this one. You can stroll around the resorts and hit the boardwalk with many restauarants and food kiosks. The rooms are so much bigger than any moderate room , the area is so much more prettier than a moderate and the beds are so comfortable you will never get out of them

Pricing wise, I only paid $20 more per night staying at the Dolphin versus the CSR....

absolutely no comparison at all.............Dolphin wins hands down for everything.

Look into it

If it is romance you want, you want the Dolphin

It's not real likely. On any given day, there are hundreds of people staying in WDW resorts who are celebrating a honeymoon, engagement, birthday, anniversary, graduation, retirement - you get the point. They simply can't do something special for everyone.

I've heard of them *occasionally* leaving a signed photo of a character in a room for kids birthdays, and that's about it.

Folks who want something in their room to celebrate a special occasion arrange it themselves, through the Disney florist or, an outside company that specializes in gift baskets, or, if they're staying in a deluxe, through room service.

I think if you are looking for a resort that provides the more private less crowded feel then I vote POFQ. My oppinion is that it is really quiet at night and the walks along the water are amazing, along with the courtyards and landscaping. Also even though they share a bus ride with POR it is hardly an inconvienance. Actually the buses were never packed and the resorts are close together. I also enjoyed the fact that we were right by Downtown Disney, so when we wanted to go out to dinner we were there in 5 minutes or less. And there is the boat ride there as well from the resort. I loved that everything was within a short walking distance: the buses, boats and food court. And if you like carriage rides this resort provides one that takes you along the Sassagoula River. I guess this resort has to be pretty romantic because my husband proposed to me here in the middle of the courtyard. Extremely ROMANTIC to me!!!!! I loved it!! It was so beautiful with the lights out at night. So anyway maybe this is why I am so Smitten with Port Orleans French Quarter. But you really can't go wrong where ever you choose to stay all of Disney is Magic!! Good luck in your choice and go with your first gut feeling ;)

I think romantic depends on the individual's preferences in what they perceive as romantic.

Carribean theme = CBR
Mexician theme = CSR
Rustic theme = POR AB section
Gone with the Wind = POR Mansion section
Mardi Gras theme = POFQ

Personally, I would choose CBR or CSR as my preference for romantic. I would then decided what is important to me in a resort. The quite pool, main pool, decor, etc.

CSR has an advantage of the other moderates since they do have a spa (getting a massage maybe) and a gym if that is important to you. Also you do have the Cabana section that will give you the beach feeling too.

Also, once the lights are out does it really matter anyway.

We stayed at the Poly last month for our anniversary and DD's 13th birthday. Our first day there we received a card from Pocahontas & John Smith wishing us a Happy Anniversary (DD got nothing for her birthday :confused3 ). It was very cute and gave us a giggle. Since we were wearing our anniversary pins a CM at Captain Cooks gave us free cupcakes (and DD got included in this one!).

There were also several gestures from CM's in the parks (wear your pins!!). Made our trip very special :cloud9:

We loved POFQ, the fountains and the carriage rides definitely add to the romance! But CSR does seem very nice too for taking romantic walks.

To be honest I think all the moderates could be 'romantic' if you were in the right mood! ;)

Definitely CSR!! Great for romantic walks, especially in the evening when everything is lite up. There is also a spa so you can get a couples massage.

I've stayed at both POFQ and POR and I would consider both of them to be romantic. POFQ has the lovely, manicured landscaping and the lampposts shed a pretty glow around the resort in the evenings. POR appeals to me because the landscaping is a little more "lush" (at least on the Alligator Bayou side.) I think either one would fit the bill for romance.

As far as something special for an anniversary, when we stayed at Ft. Wilderness Cabins last September, on our anniversary we came back to the cabin to find a card and balloon with an autographed picture of Mickey and Minnie - too cute!! These things definitely aren't guaranteed, but they sure are nice!

Here's my vote for POR. This resort is very romantic because of:

Walks along the river - any time
Evening carriage rides along the river
Boat ride to DTD
Mansion theming with gardens and fountains
Bayou theming with lush landscaping
