Moderate or Value for first timer?

My wife (who is pregnant) and 2yr old boy are planning to go in early Sept
for our first Disney experience. We are planning about 3 days at the parks and the rest (4days) just chill time at the pool with the little guy. We originally were attracted by the cheap prices (meal plan included) and looked at the All Star resorts but are getting tempted by the moderates as we will stay at the resort a few days (mostly looking at CBR). I guess I'm just looking for some advice on if the moderates are worth the extra money and if so would you see CBR as the best choice for a toddler?

Cheers

Going on your post I would definitely look into a moderate that is even on the monorail loop. Not sure how pregnant the wife is but toting around a toddler, stroller, and being pregnant is alot of stress on a body. And if it's hot it will be even more taxing. It would be easier for you to hop on to the monorail loop at your hotel vs. standing at and waiting for buses then monorails, etc. As you are also planning on staying at the resort for a couple days I think it would also be beneficial to be at a mod. as you will have more time to hang out and enjoy the resort and all it has to offer. If you planned on needing "just a bed to lay your heads" and be in the park 90% of the time then I would advise value as you only need a room.

Part one of quote there is no moderate hotel on the monorail loop.

I agree with part two -- if you are going to try to hang out near the resort a moderate is definitely in order. If you are only looking for a place to lay your head do a value. Of the mod's available I would go with POR. It's a lazier kind of place, has a sit down restaurant (ask for Vinnie the waiter he's the best), and, you can also use the pool at POFQ for a change of scenery. Also, they have horse drawn carriage rides in the evening, and boats that take you to downtown disney which is a very relaxing ride. Sorry but CBR just didn't do it for us -- it's our least favorite of all the mod's and the pool is tiny compared to the other mod's.

For first timers, esp those traveling with small children, I say do Pop or All Star Movies! No where but WDW can you get a HUGE Buzz outside your window! Or...a HUGE Baloo and Mowgli! The value resorts make a great first impression on small children. :)

POR...though offering more amenities, just doesn't have that whimsical feel that Pop or All Star Movies does.

However, I'm sure you will enjoy your stay at either resort! Have fun! :)

Totally agree, Harmony!
If I was going with a 2 year old, POP or ASMo would be my choice.... the theming is perfect.

I really don't think the little one is going to appreciate the "extras" that you get with the mods... pool slide, hot tub, sit down restaurant... though you may!

The fridge is $10 a day at the Values and POP, so you'll need to figure that in if it isn't for medical reasons.

Whatever you select, the first time is always magical!

I think the moderates are a much better deal. I did stay at the ASM when my daughter was 5, at that age she didn't notice the difference in resorts though.

The fridge is already in the room at the mod's and there is no charge.

I agree that the little one won't notice the difference but if I were pregnant I would definitely be looking for a little more luxury (the room size and ceiling fan alone at the mod's make a huge difference). The pools at the mod's never seem to be as crowded during the day as the values's so they are more relaxing and having someone serve me dinner means alot.

Just remember if you choose a mod thy have several bus stops.
Request to stay in a buildinding near the !st or 2ed stop so your wife can get a seat on the bus.
CBR has 7 stops
CSR has 4 stops
and POFQ is the first stop then it goes over to POR for three more stops.
Have a great time on your trip to Disney!
