Hi guys,

Just joined the forum and am looking for some advice.

The family
Me 42, Wife 47, daughter 11, daughter 2 :grouphug:

Stayed at before
1997 off site,1999 all stars, 2005 pop century.

We are looking at going in June 2007 :woohoo:
My questions are:
After staying at Pop last year we were wondering about a moderate. Are they worth the extra money?
Also has anyone stayed at a budget or moderate and then had a couple of days in a deluxe?

We are planning to do 5 days at POP and then 9 days at POR for our next trip - in 2009! LOL

We have done 11 days at POR and 3 days at AKL in the past. That worked out very well. We got great Annual Pass rates at both POR and AKL and ended up paying less than we would have paid for 14 days just at POR :)

If you compare the room size in the moderate to a value resort you probably won't find much difference. The layouts are pretty much the same - 2 double beds, night stands, table and two chairs, TV unit with a few drawers, somewhere to hang your clothes, vanity area with sinks and a toilet/bath/shower room.
You do get a small fridge in the moderate rooms now.

Decor is done to match the resorts theme.

There is usually a table service restaurant at the moderate resorts as well as a food court (exception being POFQ which shares it's restaurant with POR).

The main pools have more themeing at moderatesand most have slides or water features. There are also more 'quiet' pools positioned around the accommodation buildings too.

The moderate resorts are also more 'landscaped'. With the accommodation buildings spread out amongst themed gardens.

It's difficult to say whether they are worth the extra money - it's down to personal taste and expectations :)

if looking for someware just to sleep would say pop.Iy you want a pool with a slide room with a fridge and a sit down restaront in the hotel use a mod.
As tim says its personal choice i have stayes in all the disney hotels apart from the monorail ones and would have no problem staying in any again. We are in dvc and are of to pop in 4 days for a 2 week stay.Stayed there several times (weekend point thing with dvc)of the values have found it the best

We stayed at Carribbean Beach for 2 weeks in 2003 and loved it.
Now this year we stayed at the Yacht Club resort for the week of our wedding. It was fabulous there and we were really spoiled.
After a week at St.Petes beach we returned for our last night and stayed at Pop Century. The room we had was drab, the linen had holes in & it smelt of stale cigarettes. Though it was clean, it didn't feel it. There were kids running up & down the corridors at 1am. I have to say it was awful and we would never stay there again. I know we had been to deluxe and then budget but Disney really did surprise me with the quality of that place. For $140 for the night. It was not worth it. I wish we had gone to POR or CBR.
Next time we go it will definately be CBR or POR, as I believe it is also very nice there too.
I think for the extra you pay you get a lot more 'quality'.

It depends on what you want?

we stay at the ATMo which is a budget resort as all we use it for is to sleep in. To be honest I think that is enough for us.

If we had more money I would probally still stay at a budget resort.

Thats just my opinion though!

Have a fab timw when you go.

I have stayed in the values/moderates/and deluxes.

personally as long as im onsite then anywhere is great. if im going for a quick week,i usually go for a value(as im normally travelling with people on a budget)the rooms are clean, and do the job as far as im concerned!.( i also get cast member discount so have to have what is avalible at the time)

Moderates are nice, for those little extra's, bigger room, fridge etcetc, and i would do these with my family.

deluxe, really didnt notice that much difference in the step up, only the bathroom, sink part of the room and decor..

I think, that any of the onsite hotels are great, regardless of whether its value/moderate etc, you get all the disney perks, EMH package delivery etc etc.
Im off again in sept, staying at Pop century for my second time(AKL was my last visit onsite). But as long as im close to the magic thats enough for me. Im sure whatever you decide it will be a magical time

:cheer2: wevw stayed at pop and port oleans i think pop was best not worth paying extra to stay at port orleads only difference as far as i could tell was surroundings and as we didnt stay much at the hotel why pay more say at pop :yay:

We have stayed in a value, a moderate, and a deluxe. We only stay in values if we are going to a theme park because we are there from park opening to park close. It just does not make sense, to us, to spend more on a room when we barely use it. Also, it is hard to beat the amazing Disney theming when you have little ones.

We stayed at the Beach Club for two days prior to park touring and that was very relaxing and nice. We spent a lot of time in the pool. We saved money by renting points from someone on the DVC forum.

As for moderates - honestly, I think they are nearly as nice as the deluxe resorts. We absolutely loved Port Orleans Riverside although kids probably enjoy the colors of Port Orleans French Quarter more. French Quarter is a more compact lay-out, which can be an advantage when you are carrying a tired 2 year old.

Caribbean Beach is beautiful but it is really spread-out. Do some research and be sure to include a building request with your reservation.

Coronado Springs is also very pretty - more for adults.

Thanks to you all for your kind advice. Allways sorry to hear if someone had a bad experience. I must admit we had no problems at pop.

Will take a good look at the links. since yesterday some friends have expressed an interest to come with us next year so may have to rethink a little again.
