moderate or deluxe?

I know that this question is posed over and over... but... the last 2 years that we have visited WDW, we have stayed at POR and we have loved it!! While we are still feeling sorry for ourselves that we aren't going this year, we are already thinking about our return in Spring 2009...YEAH! We are considering either the Beachclub or the Poly. I have wanted to stay at the Poly since my first trip when I was only 15. However, both are significantly more $$$. For those of you that have done both, was the extra $ worth it? We typically spend very little time at our resort. We do swim daily however... I would appreciate any thoughts on this... thanks.

if you spend little time in the resort - then even the moderate isn't worth it...

the moderate and deluxes both have that in common - there is stuff to do, see, touch and experience at the resorts. If you aren't doing - go with a value.

I didn't find the WL to be worth the extra $$ over POR but I did think that the POLY was worth it. We haven't stayed at BC/YC yet. We really loved the convenience of the monorail with a little one in a stroller. Our room was huge, the food was great and my son loves to play in the sand. I can't wait to go back to the Poly....someday!

I think it really is a matter of personal preference. I stayed in both the Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge in September '07 and while both are great places to stay, we really just used it as a place to sleep and shower. The parks were our priority!! I probably would not pay the extra $$ to stay there. Now I've never stayed at any of the moderate or value resorts, so I have nothing to compare the Poly or WL to. Will be going again this September and will probably be looking at staying at a moderate resort. Hope this info helps.

I compare Disney "Deluxe" to other deluxe resorts that I have been lucky enough to stay at. And Disney falls far short. So IMHO, no it's not worth it to upgrade to Deluxe. Disney provides a "pretty" hotel for a HIGH price, but in other measurements for deluxe falls far short.

I totally agree with this!

We own DVC. And I can tell ya, if we didn't own, I wouldn't spend the money on a deluxe. I would be just fine staying at one of moderates. Especially if it meant a longer vacation!

It is such a hard decision and some of the deluxe resorts are very tempting. Have you considered a split stay?

Just returned from POR today, after a stay at POLY 6 months ago. While I don't "hate" POR I didn't love it either and we all really missed the POLY and the monorail, closeness of parks, bigger rooms, beds, and the whole atmospere. just my 2 cents.
