Moderate for family of 5??

Some friends are thinking of a WDW trip and say they have been told by CRO that the only way to get lodging for 5 is to book 2 All Star rooms or a room at a deluxe resort. Aren't there some moderates that will accomodate 5? I know I could call Disney but I trust the think tank here more. Thanks in advance!

Some rooms at Port Orleans Riverside will hold five people. There are two beds and a trundle bed for a small child.

How old are your kids? I just booked Carribbean Beach for 5 in one room. We have three children, DS8, DD 5 and 2. I wouldn't dream of letting my three kids have run of their own room-they aren't old enough. When I was making the reservation, however, the CM had a hard time adding my two year old. He ended up leaving her name off the list, even though we were still listed as a party of five. Maybe you could do that?

If one of your kids is 2 or younger then you can stay at any moderate resort as a family of 2 adults, 2 children, and 1 infant.

If your children are all 3 or older then your only moderate option is Port Orleans Riverside... Alligator Bayou section with a trundle bed.

Another option would be 2 adjoining rooms or a Wilderness Cabin.

Yes, I had forgotten about the cabins! That might be the best as their kids are 11, 7, and 4. Thanks for your help everyone!!

If my kids were 11, 7, and 4 I'd get the Wilderness Cabin. Put the 4 and 7 year olds in the bunk beds, the 11 year old in the other bed in that room (I think it's a double?) and then the parents on the murphy bed in the living room. That way they could have some privacy, watch TV, eat, etc.

They do qualify for Port Orleans. The youngest child can't be over 9.

I would go for a room at the Contemporary. If your booking standard rates then you are gonna pay more for a Wilderness Cabin than a garden view room at the Contemporary. If your looking for a kitchen, then sure, go for the Cabin. If your looking for something for 5 I would say the CR. It has the biggest rooms on property and your kids would love Chef Mickey's being so close!! Hope this helps!!

The Wilderness cabins are a great idea. You can save some money utilizing the kitchen but two *connecting* rooms at a moderate or an All Star gives you two bathrooms. This is something I'm trying to decide on myself, my kids are 9, 6 and 3.

We have stayed at both CR & the cabins. We also have 5 in our family (3 children are all girls). If they're not concerned about 1 bath I would also go with the cabin.

CR rooms are large but there is more privacy in the cabins. We do what TigrLvsPooh does - put DD's in bedroom & we sleep in murphy bed. There is a lot to do in FW & it is just a short boat ride to the MK.

It will most likely be more expensive than a moderate but we justify the cost by eating meals in the cabin - always breakfast, a few lunches if we are lounging at the pool & maybe 1 or 2 dinners.

They'll have a great time no matter what they decide, I'm sure.
