I'm considering (and its only a consideration at this point) upgrading from ASMo in September to one of the mods, the trouble is I like the look of all of them. So I figure - ASk the experts!!!
CBR - love the theming but unsure whether its such a huge resort we'd spend ages just walking around, like after breakfast at the food court can you just 'nip your mug back to the room' or is that a half hour wait whilst someone legs it back? after a full day in the park or MNSSHP is it just too much bother to walk a long way back to your room. My Mum suffers from a really bad ankle due to a bad break and some days she really struggles. Also Callum, like most kids will go all day in the parks but will become annoying when the walking doesn't involve a ride at the end of it :teeth: .
CSR - any reason why people don't seem to rate this as much? I've heard reports that the food court isn't good and that they automatically charge you tipping (In the food court? really?) :confused3
POR and POFQ - wow! they look great is there a real advantage id going for a mod over the ASMo? I know the rooms are bigger but what else? I do feel that the ASMo sums up the whole fantasy/fun side of WDW and its not like we spend days lying by the pool - we'd go to TL/BB for that.
Come on, persuade me the extra £££ are worth it.
Bear in mind that I'm going end Sep/beg Oct so crowds etc aren't a huge issue.

We really loved the intimate feeling at POFQ and the kids loved the pool slide. We took my Mum, who can only walk about 100 yds, when we went there and she found it small enough to walk around without too much trouble - she'd never have been able to walk around the others.

The rooms are larger than the AS resorts, they all have a hot-tub, POFQ had twin sinks in the rooms and it just felt so much more. :teeth: if you know what I mean! If you can afford the difference, I'd say yes, go for it. Let us know.

Thanks loads Gill, I must admit I'm leaning towards POFQ but didn't want to miss out on anything someone else might consider to be better about another resort, if you know what I mean?.

We also liked the theming there but that's probably because we loved New Orleans when we went there. I still feel it has the most homely feel of all the resorts - although I suppose I ought to keep that for BCV our "Home"!!! :rotfl:

We have stayed at the CSR, POFQ and POR we have not stayed at CBR.

Out of the ones we have stayed at, POFQ is the one that I liked best. The resort is so small and compact and very easy to get round.

If you don't want much walking I would go with POFQ. I have stayed at POR and CBR. CBR is beautiful and we got there early in the day so they put us in a close room but even with our car we looked around and said, Wow I wouldn't want to be staying in one of the far off areas.

We are staying at POFQ for the first time in December so am watching this with interest :sunny:

We stayed at both POFQ and the old Dixie Landings. We loved the boat trip to DTD in the evenings. We loved this so much we could not believe they were building at resort at DTD (Sarotoga Springs) and this is one of the reasons we bought DVC as we love the location.

Good luck and I hope you have a great time.

Susan

Thanks for all your input, I have lots to consider, the big question is save the money and have more spendies or splurge on a room? Its a question only I can answer (unfortunately) so I'll have a real think

Carol, why not do the first 7 nights at the All Stars and then the last in a Mod?

I really liked CBR but I do hear you about the size it is :teeth:

If you did this I would go for POFQ - because at All Stars you are in the AKL resort area (which CSR is too)and moving to a different area Mod might be nice?

My DDs love to stay at different resorts and check them out, especially the pool, play areas and games rooms

I second a split stay - its great - just like having two holidays!!! We stayed at POFQ in September 2004 and loved it. It is a small resort, very relaxing, very peaceful - it is great!! :teeth:

I loved CSR and infact the reason we loved it was the Food Court.

The food court may charge you 10% or something to eat there, but it is so vastly superior to the food court at Port Orleans Riverside (although we are going back to the Dixie landings days, so it may have changed) - that there was no comparison.

What i liked about Dixie Landings were all the quiet pools.

You can always request to be close to the main building. We were not far at CSR or Dixie.

Thanks again, lots to think about! I'm not too keen on a split stay as I can't be bothered to pack up and move! but having said that, its not out of the question.
glad to hear that although you guys have your favourites no one is saying 'don't stay here, or there'
will let you know if and when I decide

:sunny: Hi

We've stayed at CBR and POFQ. I would deffinatly recommend POFQ. It's just so much more user friendly if you know what i mean. If you use the transport you walk through the main building that houses the food court, bar and shop so its great for picking up a drink on your way in and out. Or just to get a coffee in the morning to bring back to you room

You can use the facillities of POFQ and POR. At POR they have a sit down resturant if you want to have a nice meal at the resort and a bar with an entertainer 3 nights a week- not my cup of tea but all the kids and plenty of the adults were having a great time when we went.

The boat to DTD is great, the captain gives you a guided tour on the way or you can get the bus if you want to be quicker. We found it nice to get the boat to DTD then a bus to anywhere else we wanted of an evening such as the boardwalk or other resorts to eat etc.

Whatever you choose i'm sure you will have a great time :goodvibes

I have been to the ASMO when my kids were younger and found it great and ideal for them at that time, last year we stayed at AKL and that was well worth the extra money.

It truly depends how much time you will stay at the resort, at the AKL some days I would have happily not left to go to the parks. ASMO is great value.
