Mod or Deluxe

Hello Disboarders! I am a longtime lurker but new poster and need the advice of the experts. For my November trip I am tryiing to decide whether to stay at a mod or deluxe resort. In the past we have stayed at POFQ and CSR so we might like a different mod. Or should we spring for the extra dollars and try a deluxe? I think we would only be able to do WL or maybe AKL, since I think they are a little less than the other deluxes. Would it be worth the extra, in your opinion? I'd also like to hear from those of you who have stayed at S/D. They're on my list of possibles, too. TIA!

WL and AKL are really nice! Beautiful during the holidays especially Christmas. I think it just depends on what you are willing to pay. If you have a Disney Visa card they usually have some good package discounts that should come out in August. We booked the CR resort for $204 last year for a garden wing room and when we checked in we were upgraded to the tower bay lake view. Pixie dust for us! I hope to try as many resorts as possible. Some people like to stay the same place year after year. It just depends on what you really want! Good luck. I would book the deluxe to try and then see what happpens? Maybe you will get a code!

I work at a deluxe and really don't think they're worth the money you're paying We usually stay mod and I think it's a great deal, but if you can afford deluxe and it won't stretch the budget then why not?

If you feel that you want to spend the extra money for a Deluxe Resort and can afford it, go ahead and see what the experience would be like.

This one was a hard one for us too. After looking at lots of pics of the AKL, we thought it was worth the extra money for the chance to see animals off of our balcony. I'll let ya know in about 9 months!!

We have done value, ,mod and deluxe. Deluxe was the way we stayed on five of our first six visits. We then switched to a mod and have stayed there (we love the CSR and find no reason to go anywhere else). Plus, we have two boys in college, one a sophomore and the other now starting his Masters, so the deluxe is just not justifiable to us anymore. However, if you can afford it and it is not stretching your dollar, then go for it.

I faced the same dilemma. Finally I went ahead and booked AKL for my honeymoon. The theming appealed to me most of all the Disney hotels and it's the least expensive of all the Deluxes. I still might change my mind when it's closer, but for now I've figured out that it's what I really want. I didn't want to feel like I was settling, and this will probably be the only time that I'll get to stay in a Disney hotel...
However, if it gets closer and I can't stomach the cost I might change my mind.

Also, consider your touring habits. If you plan to spend a considerable amount of time in your resort relaxing by the pool and enjoying the scenery, then maybe AKL or WL are for you.
If you plan to take on the parks in full force every day in order to not miss a single attraction, only to fall helplessly into your bed at night, then the extra cost might not be worth it.

Thanks for the replies and advice! I think we have decided to try a deluxe, and it will probably be AKL. Of course, I may change my mind to WL or S/D before it's all over! It may be my one and only deluxe stay, but I really do want to go all out on this trip.
