Mocktails, anyone?

Merry Christmas! As someone who’s developed all kinds of weird food/drink issues in the past few years, I can no longer tolerate alcoholic drinks. For the holidays, I’d like to have something festive to drink other than a Shirley Temple.

Anyone have any favorite recipes for mocktails? Sadly, can’t do dairy so creamy stuff won’t work either. TIA!

I like cranberry juice and ginger ale (my favorite is Canada Dry Bold, but any one with a strong ginger taste works well). That is my go to for holidays. Otherwise I stick with a sparkling grape juice. I don’t drink alcohol because I don’t like the taste.

I make lemonade spritzers. You put an ounce or so of lemonade in a tall glass, add ice and fill with the seltzer of your choice. I like lemon or lemon-lime seltzer.

Virgin pina colada: pineapple juice, canned coconut cream (pretty sure there's no actual dairy in it) and a few drops of rum extract. On the rocks or blend with ice for a more authentic version. :drinking1

Virgin mojito - two lime wedges and fresh mint muddled together, add ice and pour in a can of sprite, it eliminates the need for simple syrup or club soda and gives it extra citrus flavor. You can add raspberries, blueberries, or mango to give it extra fruit flavor too.

Some times I just open up a bottle of Mr and Mrs Ts bloody mary mixer, pour it in a glass of ice and garnish it with some bacon and steamed shrimp. I just love the taste of bloody mary mixer, right out of the bottle. Mr and Mrs T, bold and spicy is my favorite.

OMG! Thanks so much for all the great ideas. They all sound delicious. I‘m excited to try them all. Time to hit the juice aisle of the grocery store as well as the mixer section of the liquor store.

Many thanks to all who responded. I knew DISers would come through for me.

Happy, healthy New Year to everyone.

Most tiki drinks you can make non-alcoholic. We have a tiki room in our house with a mini-fridge stocked with juices, orgeat, and falernum so it's easy to mix up something without the rum or gin.

Frozen drinks are always fun too. My husband started a "Christmas Margarita" tradition when our kids were little.

Blue Hawaiians (different than a Blue Hawaii) are also a super easy frozen option to make alcohol free and you can probably get everything at your grocery store-- ice, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, blue Curacao (they usually sell an alcohol free syrup version at the grocery store instead of the alcoholic one at the liquor store).
