I will be visiting WDW with my kids and grandkids in February and have been worried about how and if I will be able to get around at the parks, the ride in from the parking lot (can I get up the steps of the tram?!!), and holding up the progress of the group with my slow pace. I do have a few questions, though. How often do you have to recharge a scooter and how long does with a basket in front for carrying stuff?

I had total knee replacement in March, but still move very slow and tire quickly. Thanks for any info you can provide.

If you rent an ECV from Disney or one of the off-site locations the battery is capable of going about 25 miles on a full charge. Since most people only go about 8-10 miles in a day at WDW there is usually no problem with running out of power.

If you have a state-issued handicap hang tag bring it with you. If you don't have one, I would suggest going through your doctor to arrange to get a temporary handicap tag. This will allow you to park in the disabled parking areas which are walking distance to the park entrances (or the TTC for MK) and they do not have tram service.

You might seriously consider renting an ECV from one of the off-site vendors. They cost less than the Disney ones, are more maneuverable, and can be used at your resort (where some of the distances involved can be very long).

We have used Walker Medical Equipment out of Kisseemee twice and they have been great. We have reccommended them to friends and they have also had a good result with them.
It is worth it to have a scooter at your resort-you don't want to get exhausted before your day even starts-or too tired to make it to your room!!
