Spectator.

I have fibro and use an ecv :moped: & cane to visit the Disney Parks. In past years, when i've attended Marathon as a spectator, I've either been stuck for more than an hour on a non-moving bus, stayed at an EPCOT resort, or stayed at a monorail resort where transportation above the crowds was readily available.

This year, for financial reasons, I'll be alone at a value resort. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find out information to explore my options for getting to the family meet and greet area?

I'd like to avoid the dreaded non-moving bus!

For example, how can I find out how close to the Finish I can park? Close enough to do without the ecv?

If I get Luggage handling to put the ecv in my vehicle, can I arrange with security or someone to help me get it out? Where would I ask?

Ideas? Thanks for all that you do.

This is the Marathon Handbook. Spectator Information is in it.

We drove to start/finish and parked in the first spot closest to all. We arrived at 3:30 am and by race time you would have parked several sections farther away. We had to walk the width of another large section to get to the event area, and the finish line was on another section from that. Monorail was just as far away in another direction. Everything was done in outer parking lots, leaving inner ones for park guests I assume.

I would think you will need your ECV unless there is parking available to you much closer. Even so, everything is fairly spread out. Help in parking was very limited, most were working event area. I would contact the event staff and see what arrangements can be made.

The reason the buses have problems is there are many road closures and/or constrictions due to the marathon. If you are driving you will be caught up also.

The Epcot parking lots are used for the start and finish, and unless you get there REAL EARLY you may find it difficult to get a close-by spot.

To get the luggage people to put your ECV in your car may be difficult; you would have to get both your car and the ECV up to the main building. Likewise, at the park you would have to hunt down andd find someone to assist, and even then they may be busy doing their regular job and unable.

Even with delays you might be best going by bus.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. It just seemed like there HAD to be a way.
