Mobile Ordering Question

Last trip we only got to use Mobile Ordering once. Every other time we wanted to, it was not available. My guess was that we were trying at busy times (right at normal lunch/dinner hours). We'd love to use it when visiting SWGE, but we will be there at peak dinner time. Does Mobile Ordering still become unavailable at times?
 
At WDW we had the same annoying problem. It's just MDE being crappy. I never experienced this at DL. I've used mobile ordering at DL probably 100 times by now. It works flawlessly. At WDW last July and this past May, it hardly ever worked. It was annoying.
 
I think it is more an issue of MDE or wireless issues.
Our last trip, when I couldn't get mobile ordering to work, I turned off wireless and used our data plan and it worked better.
I also ordered early in the day while we were in a queue and then clicked the we're here button when we were close to the restaurant.
 
I've never had an issue using mobile order but like PP I also use my data not wifi. Not sure if that matters.
 

Thanks for the responses. I didn't actually have any problems accessing the app or ordering, it was just some restaurants weren't doing Mobile Ordering at the time I was looking for. For example, we tried for Woody's Lunchbox right around 12:00 pm and it wasn't available, yet a different place in HS was available. I'm just curious if we will experience the same thing in SWGE.

I was considering placing orders earlier in the day and just pressing "ready (or whatever you press)" when we were actually ready. How far in advance can you create an order?
 
We created an order 45 minutes early for Pecos Bill (made it at 1115 when we thought we would be eating about noon) and then pressed the "I'm here make my order" during the Country Bears show just before we went over, and we still had to wait about 10 minutes after we got there-no worries as we had time to find a table for 7! I'm not sure the app will let you make more than one order at the time-anybody tried that?
 
Huh, I've only ever tried to use it during busy times (as in walked up to the restaurant and the line to order was out the door) and had no issues. This was at CHH and ABC Commissary last December.
 
We have also only tried to use it during busy times...specifically last year from December 20-26. We had no issues with it at all, even on Christmas day, and I even remember saying to my husband on Christmas at Woody's Lunchbox, "Why are all of these people standing in this crazy long line when they could just do mobile ordering?" But I was also using my data rather than wifi...so maybe the people in line were also trying to use wifi and having trouble getting through?? We ordered as we were getting off of SDD and pressed the "I'm here" button, and we only had a 5 minute wait once we walked over there.

That's an app glitch when it says "Mobile Order is not available at this time." That happened to me several times and I finally asked a CM at Cosmic Ray's what was going on, because I was getting that message and people were walking up and picking up orders just fine, and he said "I don't know why you are getting that message, because mobile order is working fine." Same thing happened to me at Woody's Lunchbox. I was so annoyed seeing people placing and then picking up orders while my app said it was unavailable. And for people wondering, I asked a few people "when did you place your mobile order?" Everyone I asked said "just now." So, these people hadn't preordered the stuff awhile ago. It's an app glitch. For what it's worth, all the people picking up mobile orders at Woody's had iPhones. I have an android.

Last week at Disneyland, when the site was having issues for a couple hours (this was a known disneyland.com site problem), I had issues placing a mobile order at just ONE restaurant. The menu wouldn't come up. All other places worked fine. I had a conversation with the guy in front of me in line because he asked me if mobile order was working on my phone. We were comparing notes and found we had the same issue just at that location, so whenever things like that happen, it's a glitch.

The restaurants don't have the ability to "turn off" mobile ordering.

We used it a couple of times last week and it worked well. When we've experienced troubles in the past was when an area was busy so we couldn't get a reliable wifi signal. As a Canadian I do not have wifi in the US so am dependent on Disney wifi which can be challenging when the parks are busy.
 
Oct 27th, 2019 and Oct 28th I had the same issue with mobile ordering not working. I tried at 2 different parks (AK and MK) I turned off wifi and used the network still didn't work. My credit card is up to date. Every time I would refresh like the app, it would hit my bank account for that amount. I spoke with guest services and was informed to "not use the app although we know how convenient it is" and to "call my bank". Yes...yes I will most certainly be calling my bank because I have almost $200 in charges for food I never received. What is weird is that it worked flawlessly last year with my Android, Galaxy s7. This year I used my Galaxy S10.
 
Another example of MDA being a pain in the rear. Disney spends billions on upgrades and such, but leaves MDE a real mess.
