Moana 2 Early Screening for DVC

We were #27 in the queue on Safari. Registration screen came up immediately. Totally smooth. Happy it's not just the screening up also the event at House of Blues. This is a two-for for us; we'll also be going to the 11/21 Moonlight Magic at AK.

Why do the doors open at 3:00 pm is the screening is two hours later?

This brings back memories. We attended an early screening of the first Moana movie on the beach at the Poly at DVC event in November 2015. My kids still talk about it.
Funny you mention this because the day of that event my family was walking from the Poly to VGF and a CM stopped us and asked if we were part of the the event and offered to let us in. My kids begged to join but my DH and I were both were not feeling well so we passed and when back to the room. When this email came through, us not going to the event in 2015 was the first thing she brought up and she was only 9 at the time. Clearly I then had no choice but to book this one.

We were able to get in on my work computer not Safari. Good to know to not use my phone for these things just in case.

That sounds awesome! We were visiting around that time and got free Moana activity sets at Epcot.

For anyone who got through or done a Disney Pre-screening at Disney springs, any advice on what to expect? They said the doors open at 3:00 with the showing at 5:00. Does that mean I need to be in line by 2:00?

I know right?! When I started reading the details that they are opening at 3pm and movie starts at 5... that is such a long time for a 7 year old... I think we will bring his tablet and hopefully we are waiting in the seats the majority of the time... not the line... Also did u guys see in the details that they over booked it soo we are not guaranteed seats. First come first served... eep...

My intial plan is this; monday was our HS day... so we will drive to HS and leave at 2:30. Then we will have my parents drop us off at Disney Springs (they did not want to see the movie). We should get there in line a little before 3pm.... so we wont be the first in line but in line enough to make it in. We shall see how long my son makes it after the movie... they said food and drinks will be served, I wonder what. My son is on the spectrum and is super picky.... so probably need to pack some safe food just incase. I also wonder if any of the drinks will have alcohol... that would be soo nice. And then we will end the night by taking the bus back to Kadani.

It was a safari issue, where you using safari? Because safari is more “secure” and limits tracking that was necessary for the program to work.

Oddly I had no problems with safari for MM on my phone.
Yikes. I have never had a problem with getting MM on safari with ipad or phone, but good to know for next time (not until later in 2025)

Dang, I thought we'd be able to amble over around 4 or 4:30 and get into the screening! yikes. Does anyone know if it would be one or more screens?

In the confirmation email in the fine print? it says it is mutiple screens so yeah

Ohh what kind of seating does that theater have? I have never gone into this theater. Do they the ones with foot rest?

I think we are going to do the same thing. We are heading to AK that morning and then will head to Disney Springs and get in line around 3:00. There are multiple screens, so that is a plus. The negative is that they said they will take any electronic devices from you when you get there (to prevent recording). I really wish they could set some sort of expectations or guidance (e.g. please arrive no later than 4:30 to secure your seat). I know they overbooked the event and your spot will all depend on when everyone else show us, but ugh... the anxiety!!
It looks like a nice theater with tons of food and beverage options (even alcoholic!)

If you can't bring a phone, I assume you will need an ID but not your electronic blue card. I guess I'll take the printed confirmation.

If you all plan to be there at 3:00, when do you think you will be able to actually get seated? Think there will just be a mad crush in the lobby?

We've got the same schedule as you. Think once we are done at AK we are headed to DS for lunch and then will get in line for the movie. I'm curious how they are handling the phones. That is a lot of phones to take / return if this is in multiple theaters.

Agree... like we are not leaving our cell phones... if we want to call and have the grandparents pick us back up... we need our phones. Hoping they have done this before and have thought through the logistics cause I bet u almost everyone is bringing their phones... and my son has his tablet too which we will need for the after party for him or he will not stay.

I’m sure it something you can turn off on safari. But generally that setting is a good setting to turn on. I am pretty sure I know what the setting is that needs to be off, but in most cases you’d want it on. And unfortunately no way to test it unless another event like this comes up.
Care to share what you think is the particular setting that may be the issue here?

Also, thinking the # of slots available for this sort of thing is minimal, compared to MM events. WDW’s IT system is infamously bad, could be just run-of-the-mill errors. Unfortunately, knowledge of this causes many to have multiple browsers open on various devices.

As for phones not being permitted, it could be just optics in the announcement. However, I’d be prepared otherwise. One person’s inconvenience doesn’t trump Disney’s desires to prevent the movie being leaked early

If they are advising registrants in advance, then they are within their rights to enforce the edict. Would think security metal detectors at the theater could easily alert them. Perhaps they would utilize those locking bag sort of things they utilize in schools.

Regardless, for those who did manage to get a golden ticket, show up bright and early & enjoy!

I think it is the Safari setting for content blockers. It maybe the way DVC is doing the cookies that Safari thinks it is from a different site that it is blocking. It is on by default. If you click to the right of the website url and then click website settings you'll be able to turn it off for that particular site.

It’s that or I suspect it might be the option to Prevent Cross-Site Tracking. But the content blocker option would usually only work if you added an extension that blocks stuff. The Cross-Site Tracking is how data is passed site to site, which I think may have came into play here.

A few weeks ago, I pre-booked M2 in our hometown theater on the cheapest day of the week but prime seating! I am really hoping Disney announces pop-up showings at the DVCs around DW. *(Would love to see this boosted to a rumor thread!)

I've been to a number of West End shows with a "no phones" policy, it happens mostly for previews or shows that are filmed for TV. They always have pouches that cannot be opened without a special key. You put your phone in it, keep the pouch closed the whole show (or movie) and at the exit they free your device.
Not sure Disney will use the same system, but most likely it's what I think will happen.

I would guess if they are renting out several theaters at AMC for this event they won't also be doing showings at resorts.

Soo exciting I finally get to participate in a membership magic event... we only go during Holidays or Rundisney events so they never seem to have anything for us...
