One of the threads has started to side track to MNSSHP so I thought I'd just start a thread rather than hijack that one. I'll be going in 2 weeks for my first MNSSHP. For those who have gone before, what did you think? Was it worth it? (I'm sure I know the answer to that already but figured I'd ask anyway). Do the majority of the guests dress up? Will you feel out of place if you don't dress up? I know the party starts at 7 but they will let you in to the park at 4. If you're dressing up do you just go in at 4 dressed up or change or what? Any tips/advice on must see's and do's?

We did the party in early September 2008 and if it wasn't for the fact that we had to leave early the next day, we probably would have had a better time.
Since it was still early, not many people dressed, but from what I am told more people dress up the closer you get to Halloween. You can wear your costume in (no masks) or you can change when you get it. They hand you Trick or Treat bags, so don't worry about having a bag. Bring a camera for some great photos of the parade, fireworks, shows, and all of the characters (both Disney and guests) you will see. The Headless Horseman riding through the parade route is an awesome sight.
As always, it is what you make of it. If you don't want to enjoy yourself and take the event as the fun, safe, environment that it is, then you won't enjoy it. But if you give caution to the wind and just have fun, then it's a great place to be. Don't worry if you don't want to dress up or just keep your costume to a simple Halloween shirt.

It's really one of my favorite events at WDW. I've never dressed up because my friends are too uptight and the weather rarely seems to cooperate.

The last time we went - it may have been last year but I've had too much red wine to recall specifics - we rode everything with no wait. We even hopped right on Astro Orbiter. I did all of the trick or treating and took all of the candy to work. I came back with a HUGE bag. The parade is my all-time favorite and the fireworks are great too.

So yes, I think you should check it out. And if you want, dress up. Plenty of adults do.

I have done it twice. Once when they "cleared" the park before the party and another when they didn't. They year they didn't it was horriblly over crowded as I am sure day guests had stayed. But the year they did clear it was alot of fun. I love meeting characters and got meet all my fav villains. As well as all 7 dwarves with Snow White, Jasmine and Prince Ali and the Fab five in hallowwen attire. The year I was dressed as a King the Step Sisters fought over me and the Queen of Hearts ditched her line and grabbed me and we ran off to the castle well until the CM came running after her!! LOL The fireworks are fantastic and I love this party way more than the Christmas one. I feel it is a better bang for your buck :)

I'm not itching to do it again (which is good since being there at a time it's on isn't likely with my job), but, if I was going to be in WDW at the right time I probably would end up going again.

My DW and I talked endlessly about costumes and then just gave up and didn't bother. (We couldn't come up with anything that we could easily stuff in a bag for the day that would also be comfortable and not impede our movements.) To be honest, I barely noticed what other people were wearing.

We set out with a plan to make sure we did EVERYTHING that was unique to the party. We only briefly stepped into one of the dance parties though since we found it way too loud and crowded for our tastes. We also had some crazy idea about visiting every candy spot which we then felt pride in accomplishing.

We ended up doing a few rides -- all but Haunted Mansion, Space Mtn and Peter Pan (for some odd reason) were easy to get on. My DW wanted to do HM at the Halloween party, so, we waited out that massive line at the end of our evening.

Overall, we had quite a lot of fun -- the parade was fun, the stage show seemed rather silly, the candy was a mixture of junk and good stuff, and real food was hard to come by.

I've been several times. The parade is awesome. The candy trails can get backed up earlier in the night, but I had no trouble later in the evening.

If you're wearing a costume, I recommend renting a locker in case it's too hot or the weather doesn't cooperate. The times I've been, my traveling party and I changed at the park because we were already in the magic kingdom for the day.

We'll be at the party in 10 days and it's our first time too. None of the adults are dressing up, but we do have matching ORANGE tshirts. I figured they would stand out a bit. Orange tee with a black PIRATE MICKEY in the center.
My niece is wearing her SNOW WHITE costume, she'll be adorable. We are BEYOND excited for the party!!! I"ve copied a lot of the tips onto my Disney notes. Some really good ones. :thumbsup2

We love the Halloween party and we 2 years in a row :thumbsup2 We'd be there this year too if it weren't for having to cancel our 2010 plans :headache:

Here's just a few photos... unfortunately i don't have the Hallowishes photos up so I can't share those.
