Ok, looking for a few tips and information on the halloween party.

From everything I have been able to find, it sounds like it is as close to a must do as there is. We are travelling with 3 kids (9, 7 and 3), so I think we will probably do the party.

Now for the questions.

First, I know this is a hard ticket event that you have to pay for separately, but does that mean you do not need to have a regular admission that day? We are not doing the park hopper option on our tickets, and I'm thinking about possibly doing something different that day - like 1/2 day at HS - then going to the MK just for the party that night. Would we be able to do that, or do we have to go to MK on the say day we have tickets for the MNSSHP?

Second, kind depending on the answer to the first question, how do you guys like to do the day of the party? Do you hit MK at rope drop and stay until the party is over that night, or do you find like going to another park during the day and kind of getting an extra day out of the deal by going to MK for 5 hours just in the evening? Or head to the MK in the morning, head back to the resort for a nap, put on the kids costumes, and head back in the evening?

Anyone that has done this in the past have any tips, suggestions, warnings, etc. for us?

Your hard ticket to MNSSHP will let you in around 4pm the day of the party. You do not need to use a day of admission off your park tickets unless you wan to do MK during that day. I have a 13, 11 7 and 5 yo. We usually sleep in on the party day and take it easy. We don't do a park that day-maybe some shopping at DTD, resort hopping, a little pool time. MNSSHP runs late and there's lots of excitement and running to get candy! So we save up our energy for it! Plus add time to dress up-if that's your thing. It sure is fun though!

We did MNSSHP in 2006, and loved it! My only regret was that we were not there during the transition from normal park to party! We arrived shortly after the party started. I think it would be nice to spend the day at MK, that way the kids get to ride most of the rides during the day, and enjoy the party events in the evening. I would get pictures in front of cinderella's carriage earlier, the night shots didn't turn out that well, and we in line for ever!! We are also planning on eating a TS breakfast and just a CS meal at night (DDP) so that we don't have to worry about dinner reservations, and 1hr+ meals in the eve, that is what made us late the party that night. Do the late parade, less crowds! Well that is all my advice, hope others will suggest more!

We were there in 2007 with a 3.5 and a 6 year old.

We actually spent the day from opening to about 2 at Sea World. Then we headed back to the hotel for a nap, dinner and putting on our costumes. We got to MK about 6. The girls were BURNED OUT by 9 and it was only our first full day of vacation. If I were going to do it again, we'd sleep in and spend the day at the resort swimming and relaxing before arriving at MK around 4.

The party is well worth it though. Even the adults in our party (6 of us) had a blast.

That's kind of what I'm a little afraid of.

That is one reason I was thinking of maybe doing a morning at DHS where we can just catch a few shows and walk around relaxing a little before heading back to the hotel for a nap. We will have to see how it goes though. I would rather just not use our park passes that day and relax at the resort if it means the kids will have more energy and have more fun at the party that night.

That's what I keep hearing. When our travel agent first mentioned it, I kind of dismissed the thought of paying an extra $50 per person just for a halloween party. However, after doing some more research, I have found very few (if any) people who said they regretted attending the event.

My niece (4) and I went last October and had a great time. We did DHS that morning, came back to the resort for lunch & a swim and then I made her take a nap. We got to MK for the party at about 5 pm and stayed until it was over. It wasn't too crowded the night we were there. Rides were pretty much walk on or just a short wait (less than 15 min). My niece had a great time at the dance parties, seeing the characters in their "costumes" and trick or treating throughout the park.

we have been twice...for DS's 3rd and 5th bdays. you sort of need to go by what your kids can handle. Both times we did downtown disney in the am thru about 1 or 2pm then headed back to room. Ds did not nap either time, but did rest while watching tv for awhile. We did do a big dinner prior, plenty of time, but I'd probably skip that next time.
Both times we went home when DS was ready. At 3 we did some trick or treating then watched the parade, once we started back tot, Ds said he was ready to go...we were staying at GF and made it back in time for a snack (candy from tot bag) and to watch the fireworks from hotel. Perfect !!
At 5 we tot prior to parade, rode a few rides/did alittle dancing after and then hit Main St for fireworks. DS was pretty well passed out on monorail ride to the Poly.
I do not push DS beyond his limit, it is better for all !!
We like to watch the parade outside the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon (I think that is the name) near the Country Bear show. First, DS loves Woody and he is usually there for photo opts. He even watched some of the parade with us last time. We stand on a brick wall that circles some trees in front of saloon. You can see over the people standing curbside, and don't get pushed and shoved by the crowd.
Also, make sure you can layer under costume. Both times we went it was gorgeous out. once, DH took off sweatshirt and just walked around in tee. I had to take turtle neck off DS too, he was sweating and costume was short sleeved. I have heard tells of others who froze, so best to be prepared !!

This is what we did last year. The kids loved having a scheduled day to just play in the pools and have "downtime" fun. Even with older kids (ours were 9 and 11) who are night owls it is too much for us to do a park in the morning and still stay for all of MNSSHP that night. The party is so fun and interesting we would much rather lose day time regular park hours than miss the end of the party.
Last year we booked a breakfast for that day and then swam until around 1:00. We had a coutner service lunch at the hotel and, I made the kids lay down and relax for an hour (way too old to nap, but they relaxed and watched TV and got a little rest) and then by the time we got into costumes/make-up and got to MK it was nearly 4:00 and we headed in for the party. It is absolutely something I would do again if we are ever at WDW at the "right" time of year again

Has anyone been to the party on a Sunday night? Are they crowded? If so just how bad? We are thinking of going after our cruise on October 25th. Thanks for your input.

We went on a Friday night last year and I thought it would be really busy, but it wasn't.

We're planning on Sunday the 25th this year too! See you there!
