MNSSHP WITH A 3yr old?!

We did MNSSHP with our 3.5 year old last September. We rested for a few hours at the resort pool and had a good nap before heading to MK around 6pm. We made it until just before midnight and I was shocked. We got a few rides in, got a great spot for the parade and saw Hallowishes.

For us, I knew every cent was well spent by his reactions at the parade. He went to MNSSHP dressed as Peter Pan, and the look on his face when the float came around the corner and Peter waved at him, oh I think I'll remember that moment for the rest of my life.

We are going again this October and I cannot wait!

We took our 2 year old son this past October. We woke up late and did a character breakfast at the hotel, pool and then we did naps. We got to the MK at 4pm. I scheduled 3 fastpasses for the hours of 4 to 5, 5 to 6, 6 to 7. We did the party and enjoyed ourselves after the fireworks we left. It was fun to dress up. i think everyone should do it one time. With a toddler if you can get a nap in before hand and get there around 3 or so I think you can have a nice evening.

This upcoming trip we are skipping the party since we have been but I am glad we did it last time.

We just took our 1 year old and 3 1/2 year old last October. They outlasted the other adults in our party! They loved the parade and trick or treating. We went to MK that morning, and went back to the room for a nap before heading to the party.

We all dressed as Monsters, Inc. My family played all the parts at the Laugh Factory and I wished I would have recorded it!

Did you get fast passes with the party?

My son will be a week shy of 3 when we go in October. We’ve elected to do EMM and not MNSSHP. He is an early bird and won’t rest in hotel rooms (we have way better nap luck in the stroller), and I think the party is likely to be a huge disaster. EMM will be a better use of our money.

My family and I are going to Disney in September. We’re only stay a few nights. The day we’re doing MK mickeys Halloween party is going on. I’m hesitant Bc my youngest will be just turning 3. Has anyone taken small children? If so how was it?! We’re they able to last?

We took my daughter for her second birthday. However, we didn't do any parks that day, just the party. She had a blast, and actually made it almost until the end. When she eventually fell asleep in the stroller, my husband & I took turns riding some of the rides ourselves, like Space Mountain. We had a great time. My daughter remembers it & it's one of my favorite family memories.

We took my 3 year old last year. Make sure not to go to the park that day, and rest up for the party at night. We had a character breakfast that morning and enjoyed the pool at GF to make sure he was rested. He LOVED MNSSHP! Ofcourse he could not "hang" nearly as long as we could, but it was great for while it lasted, especially taking advantage of those special character appearances. It is an experience and I thought worth the money, as Halloween is his favorite holiday.

The late night is the hardest part. It is not a cheap event, so be sure your little one can handle at least midnight. Great event overall but I know as an adult I need to sleep in that morning to enjoy!

We have gone with young ones many times! We are frequent park goers and more commando style and our kids were both stroller sleepers...

When they fell asleep late at night (usually 2nd parade timing), we would use that time to enjoy the rest of the parks ourselves! Mountains with short lines, dance parties, shopping, castle show, snacks we don’t have to share etc..

It was always worth it for us and they loved the candy and practice trick or treating.

We wore simple costumes - like everyone in a super hero shirt (one year I was Batman and my 2yo daughter was Robin), or the year 6 of us went we were a rainbow - each in a different color shirt. Or just pumpkin t-shirts...the simplicity is for a few reasons butthe most important is minimal change FoR Bed!

Whomever said ‘Double Stroller for the Win’ is my kind of disser!!

The first time (and actually the only time) we've been to MNSSHP, our DD was 15 months old. She had a ball. She was dressed in an little orange top, and orange shorts. She looked like a little pumpkin. She sat on DH's shoulders for the parade and proceeded to "box his ears" to the beat of the BOO-TO-YOU song during the parade. One of the CM's in the candy shop was laughing so hard at our DD, that she came out with some gold coin candies for my DD to get her to stop. Although she doesn't actually remember a lot about that trip, we have the video to remember it by. She is super excited to go this time. She is now 11 years old and we told her no, that she doesn't get to sit on Dad's shoulders this time.

We went last year with DS3 and DD4/5, and both had a blast. We are park commandos, and I think DS napped in the stroller during the day. DD has never been a napper, past 18mos. They both had so much fun, and still talk about the parade to this day. Both made it until we hit the bus line at the end of the party. It really does depend on how the kid is wired.

Totally depends on your child and how they do late at night (and the next day!) We took my oldest when he was two months shy of turning three and, since he was free, we didn't care too much that he only lasted until 9pm! It was also one of those September nights where it poured with rain 90% of the time, so we were happy to leave early. We took him last year at almost five and he was a trooper - made it to 11pm and loved every second of it. We'll be taking him back this year for sure. If you think you'll be back in the next few years, I'd wait, but if this is the only chance you'll have to go, give it a try.

My youngest will be 2.5 this October but goes to bed at 6.30pm on the dot and NOTHING changes that (he'll be asleep at 6.30pm wherever we are, he is a creature of habit!) so it will be a good few years before we take him!

We took our girls (3 and 6) and they both had a blast! but our 3 year old was ready to go back to the resort around 10:30

That seems so crazy to me Kate! I remember when we had both the ROL and the baby watch on!

We took our DS last year and he was almost 2. He had a blast trick or treating and loved the fireworks. He’s a night owl and can stay up late. He made it to about 11pm. I did make sure he got an afternoon nap in at the resort and then headed over to Magic Kingdom for dinner. We will be taking him again this year and he will be almost 3 by our trip.
