Hi I have booked our tickets for MNSSHP and it tells you to dress up in a fancy dress costume. Has anyone been to this and if so did you and your kids dress up? Do you feel left out (even as an adult) if you don't dress up??

Cheers.

Hi, we went to MNSSHP back in 2008 and we all dressed up as The Flintstones and we had so much fun...it felt great walking around the Magic Kingdom in fancy dress and we felt it really added something special to the night and our memories of it! However, there was probably about 50% of the people who didn't dress up so you honestly won't feel left out at all - I love fancy dress anyway so I just feel we would have 'missed out' if we hadn't dressed up but like I said you wouldn't feel left out if you didn't. Hope you have a great time :)

We never dress up, you won't feel out of place at all.

It's a fab atmosphere, I prefer the Halloween party to the Christmas one, way more fun and everyone is very social regardless of what you wear though you'll likely get a lot more interaction with other party guests and CM's if you're in costume :)

I agree that if you dress up, especially if you wear a costume that is recognisable to the CMs and characters, you will get some fantastic interaction.
For example if one of you goes dressed as a pirate you will have a laugh with Captain Hook (and get some great pics).
We went dressed as ghosts from the Haunted Mansion and got comments from everyone as we walked around - everything from 'shouldn't you be in the mansion by now' to getting stopped by other guests for pics (I know you are not supposed to do that but we found it hard to say no :rolleyes1).

But like a PP said there are quite a few that go who don't dress up and I am sure their evening is no less fun as a result

We went last year and had a fab time. We are a family of 4 and dressed as dalmations....we were so pleased we dressed up, Cruella came up to us during the parade and said that she wanted to take us all....our kids loved it. We also had a great photo with her at the villand mix and mingle ( she spent much longer with us than anyone else). Also the CM's were great, kept barking at us....we could hear other guests say " look its the dalmation family" and want to take pur photo.........................we would definatly dress up again as we feel it added to our experience:thumbsup2

My DD6 and DS3 dressed up as Belle and Peter Pan. I was Alice and my husband was the white rabbit!

I'd say about half dress up. It is lots of fun to dress up, I'm going as Minnie Mouse this year.

It's our first party this year... can't wait! I'm dressing as Alice and DH is going as Indiana Jones!

We always dress up - it's so much fun! In the past we have been: Tinkerbell, Belle, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White and this year will be Alice, Playing Card and Cheshire Cat! :cool1:

First time we went to MNSSHp in 2007 we dressed up (was about the 20th) and honestly we only saw about 12 other adults in fancy dress. I'd read various boards and thought the majority would be in fancy dress. Not being an over-confident female at the best of the times I changed back into my 'own' clothes after about two hours and dumped the costume in a trash can.

Last year we went on the 29 October and about 30% of adults were in costume with about 90% of kids. DH, DS and me all wore the MNSSHP t shirts we had bought and felt much more confident - DD still went as a princess obviously.

If you love to dress up and have masses of self-confident then go for it. If like me you like the idea but haven't got the bottle unless with the majority then it may not be for you.

If I was to do a costume this year it would be a very subtle one not an all out 'proper' costume.

Hi thanks for all your replies. I am not overly confident, so may not dress up though my DDs will. Where do you get the MNSSHP tshirts from??

official MNSSHP t shirts are only available during the parties in the main street emporium. They wheel the merchandise out at 7pm (last year was t shirts/baseball caps/torches etc.)

we bought ours at 7pm last year and did a quick restroom change!!

Have fun.

I'm so excited for MNSSHP but I've still not figured out my costume yet and only have just over 3 weeks to figure it out...time to get sorted.

To dress up or not to dress up shouldn't matter - just have an amazing time and feel comfortable in whatever you are in...it's going to be amazing!! =)

MyBubbles, you must be going at the same time as me. We're going on 18th to MNSSHP. Can't wait. Am going to go to Walmart to buy something to wear when we get there. Did that in 2007 and it worked out great - DH want as a skeleton and I went as Wednesday from the Adams Family!!!

We did MNSSHP last September and whilst our son had an incredibles outfit it was just too hot for him to wear it.

My daughter, however, wore her Lilo costume that i made - she got sooooo much attention as it was unique. Stitch gave her lots of hugs at the disco party and CM's were saying "Hey Lilo" - when we watched the parade there must have been over 30 "Hey Lilo's" from the CM's dancing and going past.

She even got spotted by an american Dis Member who recognised the picture I had posted of her outfit prior to our trip! The lady rushed over to say hello and asked if I was on the disboards as she recognised Beth and the outfit!

She wore the outfit for MNSSHP and also for our Aloha Stitch BreaKfast and morning in AK - when in AK the CM's at Lilo & Stitch were so excited to see her outfit (along with the crowds watching the characters) she got a lot of attention again and they did some great photos with her - see below:

Hubby and I did not dress up but were quite happy with this.

It's a completely 50/50 split to costumes or not so you won't feel out of place either way.
If you dress up you do get great interaction with the characters, first year our group went as characters from Toy Story and we have great pictures with the characters and then in 2008 our group went as characters from Peter Pan!
Be prepared if you do that, the character interaction is amazing but if anyone is dressed up as Tinkerbell, Captain Hook will be after you!! :rotfl2:

Hi we are going to our 1st MNSSHP this yr and we are a family who love dressing up I.E 21st bday parties new yr well anything really.

I always dress up for mnsshp & have a total blast in doing so :)
CMs really interact with any dressed up making the whole experience that bit more magical. My dh has never dressed up for the event but he's promised me next yr he's gonna.
Last 2 yrs I ve gone as Snow White, next year I wanna dress up as Jessica Rabbit.
Have found few costumes of her on EBay so need to get the dress & Wig. Really excited about next yrs party although my dh is nt too keen on me dressing
as Jessica.

There are plenty of people who do dress up, whole families dress up sticking to a singular theme.
Last yr we saw a group of about 10 people dressed up as characters from HM. They looked incredible , ud of thought they were part of the event. People were having their pics taken with them.
If ur considering dressing up I'd def say go for it, it's sn awesome experience especially when characters play up to ur costume

I've dressed up for both the MNSSHPs i've attended: First time I was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, second time I was Lucy from Peanuts (Snoopy and Charlie Brown cartoon) I never miss an opportunity for fancy dress and I think it makes the whole party experience more fun :goodvibes
