I've been planning our costumes for MNSSHP, and I really want to make a Halloween dress (I guess you could call it a witch, but it's just a dress made out of Halloween fabric.) I've been struggling with costumes in general to make sure they 1. pack well, and 2. don't have hats/wigs/props that would make rides difficult.

Now my dilemma is the shoes. I just can't see myself spending hours in MK wearing "real" shoes. I usually wear sneaks. But of course I couldn't wear sneaks with a black dress.

So what do you and your families do about your costume's shoes? Do you throw it all to the wind and wear the comfortable shoes, or do you shun foot comfort in favor of a good costume?

Thanks!!

Last year when I went, I wore the 'dress' shoes for my costume (I was a lady in waiting) for most of the night and for the picture but about half way through I changed into my sneakers which I'd brought along. It didn't matter really because 1.) I saw a lot of other people doing exactly the same thing and 2.) my dress was long enough that no one really noticed. You'll see people wear sneakers in with their costume too so it's really just a decision for you and what will make you more comfortable

I had wore in the shoes for my Satine costume before hand but wore them the entire night

If money isn't an issue, you could purchase black sneakers. I probably wouldn't risk developing blisters that could effect your comfort for days. What would you rather remember - how much fun you had that night or how much your feet hurt?

Cheap Sneakers and Glitter!!!

My Mom is planning on being Belle, so She got a cheap sneakers from the thrift store (brand New) for 2 dollars and covered them with Gold Glitter
Im going to be a clown, so Again Cheap or Old sneakers, I covered them with Glue and then Glitter.. Comfy, and cute :)

When DD was 1.5, I made her a dalmation costume from a white sweatsuit. I used a round foam paint brush (made for stenciling) and black paint for dots. I took her most recently (just barely) outgrown white leather Keds and first, repainted them white, then added dots to them too. A red ribbon bow at the neck, and she was adorable. When she wore a Baby Bop (from Barney, in case you are lucky enough not to know) costume, I painted old white leather Keds with fuschia paint. Melanie

For my Satine costume I used a pair of heels from a vintage store that fit the feel of the dress. But try finding shoes for a lady vampire outfit:) (Dru from Buffy)

Last year, I bought some cheap sneakers. I then painted them black. After thet was dry, I stenciled stars and moons on them with glo in the dark paint. They were cute and comfortable.

Character shoes. They come in buff and black. They have a manageable heel and are made for dancing. Watch the parades, they are what most of the female dancers are wearing (and I would imagine the princesses as well).
