MNSSHP - Wedding Dress?

This is my wedding dress.

We are going to MNSSHP on Oct 21st, which is in the middle of our honeymoon trip. We were hoping to be able to wear our wedding attire into the park as our "costumes." I have heard conflicting reports. Some say, "go with it," some say, "it's too long/ bulky and you'll be asked to leave!."

I don't want to bring my dress and his suit all the way out just to have it sit in the closet... does anyone have any advice/ insight? Has anyone seen this in the parks before? It was recommended to me by another member here!

Thanks so much!

It'll be ruined by the end of the night. If you're okay with that then I can't see how it's different for MNSSHP than other costumes.

I have heard of other's doing this at MNSSHP and don't think you will have a problem with it - your dress is gorgeous!

You should be fine as far as being allowed to wear it, but as Jennasis said, it will be completely ruined by the end of the night. I would wear it for a half hour and get a few pics and then change into something else. Especially if you plan on sitting for the parade and riding rides. I personally wouldn't do it, but if you are not wanting to preserve it or save it for anything, then go for it.

Gorgeous dress. Can you lift back a bit, so nobody would step on your dress, it will be crowded.

I am not sure about Disney allowing it, I don't know why they wouldn't but first off I would consider if I would be comfortable wearing it arond the park all night. Mainly thought that is a beautiful dress I would not wanting to take a chance on it getting damaged or messed up.

I second this as well. Plus there seems to be quite a bit of beading on there -and that may start to get heavy/uncomfortable if you're going in humid/hot weather. My wedding dress had similar beading (but with no train), and despite being in the A/C, by the end of the nite it felt like it weighed a ton and I couldn't wait to take it off.

Yeah. I guess I should reconsider this... Thanks for the advice.

I have red hair, so may just go with him as Ariel and Eric... or Rosetta and... someone....

Thanks again

It would probably be best to not look as though you are posing for wedding photographs.

I've seen the Bride from the Haunted Mansion at MNSSHP but not actual brides.

I'd also add that it can still be pretty hot/humid in October. For your future-DH, it might not the most comfortable thing to be wearing a suit.

If you don't mind it getting ruined, do it! I wouldn't probably adjust it so it doesn't drag the ground, but that's it. I'll be in a giant wedding dress for a couple parties and I know I'll be sweating my rear end off, but hey it will be worth it.

that dress is absolutely gorgeous.... I wouldn't bring it and risk it getting ruined. You never know what's going to get spilled on it by the end of the night! :)

I thought about doing this when DH and I were on our honeymoon - we got married there, so my dress would already be there. But I decided against it because I had a big, full skirt on the dress and it was hot and heavy! I wore a Tinkerbell costume instead (easy to pack!) and I was so glad that I did. It was much easier to move around in and I stayed nice and cool.

I really have no advice on this, as I have never attended MNSSHP, but I just wanted to say that your dress is absolutely GORGEOUS! :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure the Halloween party is the only time all year that you're allowed to be in the park in wedding attire without paying the personal photoshoot fees which run into the hundreds of dollars.

I have seen people plan to enter the parks for the party in their wedding attire "costumes" as soon as allowed (which has historically been 4 pm), grab Mickey & Princess FPs, use photopass CMs to get shots taken in Town Square & on Main Street & in front of the castle & then with Mickey & Minnie and the Princesses in Town Square, and then change out of the wedding stuff (rent a locker). They are back in their regular clothes or in another costume by 6:00 at the latest, and ready to party. And they've had rare wedding photos taken in the Magic Kingdom (with characters, even!) without paying the special wedding photoshoot prices. It seems to be a loophole in the "no private photoshoot" rule, because private photoshoots in the sense of photopass pics are allowed, and (for this one event only) costumes are allowed.

Not that I've done this. I haven't. But I've seen it being discussed online and as far as I can tell, it breaks no rules. And late October is not so hot that you couldn't stand wearing your dress for the 30 minutes or so that you'll be outside. If it's too hot or you don't want to get dirty, you could always wait inside Town Hall until your FPs are due.

I posted the same question not too long ago (getting married in Florida and going to MNSSHP after) and the general consensus then was it's a big no no, they would turn me away, don't risk it!

Seems no one knows!

Instead of risking it, we've decided to do the above! We're getting married on Cocoa Beach in the morning in our wedding attire or course. We'll enter (or try to) the park at 4pm when MNSSHP starts but we'll have 'proper' halloween costumes too.

That way if we're turned away because of our wedding outfits it's no biggie, we'll just change into the Halloween costumes, but if not we get to have our wedding shots in front of the castle, with the characters etc and then change to the halloween costumes after so we're more comfortable :D

Although one definite rule is you're not allowed to have a 'costume' with anything trailing on the floor, for safety reasons, so you'll probably be denied entry for that reason as that dress drags on the ground :(

Saw a couple at last years MNSSHP in their wedding clothes walking down main street. With that being said, it was almost 85 degrees that night (same week you're going), and I was roasting in shorts and a halloween top. Maggie Sottero dresses don't come cheap, and I certainly wouldn't want to risk ruining such a beautiful gown. Happy Honeymooning!!

Like I said, I've seen people on the boards talk about doing it. I've never tried it myself. However, I'm like 95% sure I've seen women in wedding dresses during the Halloween party. I seem to remember a "haunted bride" with regular wedding dress & then green & grey-ish facial makeup, and she'd tousled her hair, so she could have gotten her earlier "pretty shots" and then just added makeup & messed up her hairdo.

This might be why. Disney isn't going to allow wedding parties to take photos in front of the castle or with characters that they haven't authorized so all of you showing up in wedding attire is a red flag.

If you show up in just your gown, without all the accessories and the rest of your party is casually dressed, you'll probably be allowed.
