MNSSHP, trick or treat?

Hi everyone,
In a few months I will be at WDW again, I'm so happy!
We've never been to MNSSHP, so I made reservations yesterday.
Now I have a question for you, and it's a real non-US-resident question.
How do I trick or treat?

You are given a "Trick or Treat" bag as you enter the party. There are characters in special places with candy, just line up, open your bag and the CM puts treats into it.

Sometimes you get a handful, and sometimes, just 1 or maybe 2 pieces. Once when we were leaving the party, just after the fireworks, so on the early side, the CM at the gate decided we didn't have "enough" and wow, she gave us each lots of goodies!

When you get to the MK and enter for MNSSHP, you'll get a trick or treat bag. Just look for the signs for the Trick or Treating spots, I believe they are marked on the MNSSHP map, and open your bag! You'll get good candy from what I've heard, all name brand stuff like Snickers and Twix and Hershey bars..

As you enter there will be maps to guide you to the trick-or-treat locations -- although you'll notice them as you roam about.

Well, I am a "american resident" and familliar with trick or treatin practices but WDW isn't really a typical experience and no prior knowledge is required. We went to MNSSHP this past October on our childrens (3 & 4) first disney experience. We had never been to MNSSHP before so it was a first for us on that venue. #1 although a costume is fun and it was great to see everyone dressed up it is not required. Our children dressed up while my DH & I did not but there were a ton of adults dressed. #2 When you enter the park you will be given a treat or treat bag - pastic with handles (ours is orange & black with the even spelled out on it) & everyone in your party gets one. You will also be given a map with all trick or treat locations marked out on it. #3 Have fun. The candy locations last year were set up in toon town and in Adventureland. The candy locations were marked by a big hot air type balloon looking sign - white and easy to spot. You got into the lines with everyone else and they moved fairly quick. Sometimes you got a handlful, sometimes a couple pieces. Each location usually had a couple lines so we would hit each line as the candy locations can be spaced out and it was tough on 2 toddlers feet. Also when we left the park for the night, after you go through the gates and before heading to the monorail they had bins of candy that you could basically fill up your bags at the end of the night if you didn't get enough inside. They were putting handfuls into each bag at this point. We ended up with a ton of candy.
Don't forget to get your picture taken (with 2005 tickets 1 5x7 picture was complimentary for each member of your party), take in the parade - rumor has it the 2nd showing of the parade is less crowded but the night we were there the 1st one got rained out so there was only 1 parade that night. And there is exclusive merchandise only sold during the parties - you cannot buy it during the day or any other time than at the party.

Gosh this sounds like so much fun!!!!! I was not planning to do MNSSHP since we are going in September and did not even dream that they may do it then. Now that they are having one the last night of our trip, I can't wait to experience the Magic!!!!

Last year, DH and I had just started our Trick or Treating when I left my bag on POTC. We wandered over to Adventureland where there were multi-TOT areas. I told the CM that the pirates had plundered my bag, and then told him I had left it on POTC. He proceeded to fill my new bag about halfway up. He probably would have filled it completely if I hadn't stopped him.

Does everyone do the rides with their candy bags? Or do they store them in a locker or something and then do the rides? Just curious...

The bags are not big enough to hinder your riding experiences. They are approximately 6" x 10" or if you taped two letter size envelopes together that is about the width and height. A little bigger than the old fashion lunch paper bags but made of plastic. The have handles on them so you could loop it around a wrist on the rides. We got alot of candy candy - skittles, laffy taffy, tootsie pops, gummy candy, and some chocolate - shapes pumpkins, etc. and some m&m's, snickers, etc. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will post one of our loot.
