MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Everytime we have stayed late back in Fantasyland, the characters that are left jump on rides with the kids. We have ridden the Tea Cups with McDuck (yes it is hard for him to get in) and the Merry Go Round with the crew from Alice in Wonderland.

Also, just walk back to Frontierland...Jessy was just sitting on the stairs at Pecos Bills waiting for kids...there were none around and her and my daughter danced for about 10 minutes!

Don't get caught up in candy lines...the characters are out in force and ready to interact!

:welcome: I like your user name.

Now that you've registered, you know what's going to happen, right? Give it a year and you'll have 1,000 posts or so! ;)

 You know it!
I'm actually a tad frightened. Combine my obsessive planning tendencies with my habitual late nights, and who knows what will happen?! :scared1:

Thanks for the compliment and the welcome!

Question- Are the princesses in their normal area and are they dressed up as well. I know that Snow White is out and about in the park but I was wonderin about like Belle, Aurora and Cinderella... :confused3

From what I have heard, the Cindy and Aurora are back in their normal spot in the Toontown Hall of Fame, dressed in their regular gowns, but have their princes with them. It was this way at MVMCP and the P & P parties too.

I haven't heard yet where Belle hangs out........

I know when choosing costumes everyone puts a lot of thought into the heat factor, but DON"T FORGET YOUR FEET!! last year we went a the pirate crew. So naturally I donned my knee high heeled boots-which really are comfy. I thought, this is only for a few hours I can deal-nope-bad plan-I never knew how many cobblestoned walk areas there are in that park. The party may not be as intense as a regular park day but you feet will still yell at you later.

Don't be frightened...just give in...we all do! Before you know it you'll find yourself in home depot stealing little green mickey heads like the rest of us! :lmao:

VERY good tip! :thumbsup2

Hi All! A total newbie here, have never been to the World or the Magic Kingdom, but love  Disneyland have been multiple times. My family and I are going to MNSSHP the evening before our cruise so I am in full planning mode trying to optimize our fun at MNSSHP! I have printed off a copy of the MNSSHP map and then a copy of the normal MK map. I also printed off the tips (thank you so much) that were compiled and now I have questions! :goodvibes
  1. Where is the Princess Room in Toontown
  2. Where is Timekeeper? (The tips reference Buzz is there)
  3. The list indicates Peter Pan and crew will be near POTC but when I look at the MNSSHP, it doesn't show any "character" symbol near POTC
  4. I am assuming that the items listed on the MNSSHP map are listing the attractions that are open for the party?

I really appreciate all the tips on this board. Because of this thread, I decided to get DD (5 but will turn 6 during our vaca) a costume. I didn't want to deal with the hassle, originally, but after reading and looking at pictures, it seems the bigger hassle I'll have is DD not in a costume!

I didn't read this tip here but saw it somewhere else. I was reading that before the parade, somewhere on Main St., a CM tells the story of the Headless Horesman and then as he concludes, the Horseman appears. I know the Horseman riding down the parade route is true, seen the pics, but can someone confirm if the story telling is true?

I think that's an important tip to stress. I read here that someone took the "pretty" and comfy shoes and just swapped their child in and out of them as the evening went on. When I was picking DD's costume, her feet were very much in consideration. I decided on Minnie Mouse (such a cute dress, can't wait to see her all dressed up) because Minne wears those clunky yellow shoes so we ordered her some yellow crocs. ;)

:tiptoe::earboy2: Yes, yes, that is very very true. My DD and I did that before our last cruise 2 years ago after reading tips on the DIS. Planning to do it this weekend in preparation for the cruise coming up! :rotfl:

Just wanted to thank you all for this thread! Going to my very first MNSSHP with some good friends on 9/11...and this has totally amped up my excitement! You all rock!

For those who ordered tickets over the phone and haven't received them, give them a call. I ordered back in July and didn't really think about it until today and realized I hadn't received them. I called to be sure they weren't lost in the mail :scared1: and was told they were set up for Will Call.

Works out fine for me, since the trip is a surprise. Thought I would share that in case anyone is starting to hit panic mode since they haven't seen their tickets. All of the CM's along the way told me they were mailed within 14 days, but the final CM who looked it up for me said Will Call and had my information with the reservation number.

Not sure if im posting this on the right thread but any advice on inexpensive pirate costumes for a group of 7. I'm the only female, kids are 4,11, and 16 rest are adults. I'd love to see pictures of anyones costumes who has gone recently. Does anyone sell their old costumes?

I spoke with a cast member earlier this week, and she told me that guests can move their tickets to another day. Hope this helps. Call the reservation line, they'll be able to assist you.

Yep, I had to do this already. I guess because of the design of the ticket purchase page (line after line of drop down boxes), I accidentally chose 10/6 instead of the intended 10/2. Since 10/2 is my niece's birthday, and a weekend instead of a weeknight, I really needed 10/2. I did have to play the concerned uncle and tell my mother that "of course" we couldn't take my niece out of school just because I made a mistake buying the tickets for a weeknight - the whole time thinking "I'd totally take her out of school for that".

I called the day after I bought the tickets online, and they changed them without a problem. I bought the wrong ones on a Sunday night, and had the fixed tickets in the mailbox the following Saturday.

we made ressies for the wishes dessert party on the night we do MNSSHP....it starts an hour before the 10pm wishes and then we can watch from there...opinions please?

Well, for pants you could each get a pair of cheap black pants, leggings or shorts (or find some you already have that are ready for Goodwill) and cut the bottoms zig-zag. Bandannas are cheap at Micheals, and I think you can get a bunch of eye patches cheap at a party store or Oriental Trading.

Shirts might be a little harder. Do you have any old puffy shirts from the 80's? :rotfl2: Maybe you could find some at a thrift store? Some vests, too?

Then color some razor stubble on your chins with an eyeliner pencil and you're good to go!

Good luck!

  2. Where is Timekeeper? (The tips reference Buzz is there)

I can't answer all of your questions, but I can answer these two.

The Princess Room is in the back of the big tent in toontown - it's on your right as you walk through. The Princess area is to the left? and Fairies are to the right? I believe.

Sorry, but there is no Timekeeper ride in WDW. I've never been on it, so I can't say if there's something similar.

  2. Where is Timekeeper? (The tips reference Buzz is there) if it is what I think they are talking about it it to the left of the buzz lightyear ride...toward the carousel of progress.
  3. The list indicates Peter Pan and crew will be near POTC but when I look at the MNSSHP, it doesn't show any "character" symbol near POTC Characters come out all over...not only where the mickey hand is.
  4. I am assuming that the items listed on the MNSSHP map are listing the attractions that are open for the party? I believe so...normally the only things that are closed durring these types of partys are the Hall of Presidents and the Riverboat...anyone know what else? I can't think of any more at the moment.

I answered in purple. I hope that helped :goodvibes

The Magic Kingdom is already ready for Halloween!

I also thought readers of this thread would enjoy AllEars.net's overview of MNSSHP.

Like others said, the Princess room is in the Toontown Hall of Fame Tent, in between Mickey and Minnie's houses. Mickey and Minnie are also in Toontown, behind each of their houses, dressed in Halloween outfits. :thumbsup2

The Timekeeper is a former attraction that's no longer open. In its last few years, it was used sometimes as a character meet & greet area, but now it's Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.

Is the Liberty Belle Riverboat open for the party? I think I remember reading something about spooky storytelling on there, or was that during the Pirate & Princess Parties?

It was during MNSSHP, years ago, but I know they didn't have it in 2007. We didn't get to go to MNSSHP during 2008 so I am not certain about that year, but I don't recall seeing it on the posted brochures. The Riverboat is scheduled to be down for refurb for a short period in September again this year. I think they probably won't have the storytelling again or they would have scheduled the refurb for some other time of year. I hope they have it, but my guess it that they won't. I guess we'll find out soon!

is jack skellington face painting offered on the MNSSHP nights?
I haven't seen any.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply! I'm not going, but was just wondering if it was still happening.
