MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Thanks for all the great tips in this thread! We're going to our first MNSSHP on September 15th, and are very much looking forward to it! :yay:

I just called and ordered and they said there would be a fee for mailing them and told me it could take two weeks to get them. We got them in a few days because we are Florida residents. Mickey was on one and Goofy was on the other.

Does anyone know how long the characters greet for? Because I am wondering maybe if we wait to see our favs the lines could be a bit shorter.
Also, am I going to be one of the few adults in these lines?

Are all the characters dressed up in costume or just a few? Do we get a list or something when we get the park maps saying who is dressed up or not?

We are going on Friday October 23rd because of work and such. More crowded?

Is Eeyore at any of the dance parties?

You don't have to have the tickets sent for a fee. You can pick them up at a ticket counter when you get there. Or, you can print out an e-ticket and just take it to the gate and go in. We did the e-ticket last year and we went right in. They scan the paper at the turnstile.

The characters are out all during the party with a few breaks in between. The lines are pretty long, but there are LOTS of characters available everywhere. There is a special park map that is made up for the party and shows where the character greeting stations are, but you can't miss them walking around. There are links on this thread to last year's party map as an example.

The characters are not in halloween costumes, except some are in the parade. They just look like their normal selves for the meet and greet pics.

The closer you get to halloween, the more crowded it will be, just like any halloween themed attraction anywhere in the country.

I don't recall Eeyore being in any of the dance parties, but Disney can change things at any time. Eeyore was available with Pooh as a character meet and greet in fantasyland. They swapped out with tigger and piglet.

These were my experiences last year going to the party. When the halloween map is released this year and someone posts it, the events will be more clear.
I will probably be there Friday Oct. 2 this year , but I'm sure someone will have the info posted before then.

hope this helps!

Thanks for all your help! i thought I've seen pictures of people waiting in line for the dressed up characters.

First trip to MNSSHP! Going Oct. 23rd to celebrate 25th birthday! Have a few questions if that's alright. Before when we have gone to these parities, the crowds really didn't thin out until about 7 PM. Is that true for MNSSHP as well? I 'm interested in getting my pic taken with Halloween dressed up Eeyore, are the characters all in one area or are they scattered throughout? Does anyone know if there will be special MNSSHP merch besides the pins? Thanks, Amy

That's our anniversary too (5 years) We decided to go to the party on the 20th though since it was cheaper.

I so wish I could go on 10/23 too! That's my birthday (41st) and my anniversary (16th), but I'll have to settle for 9/4 because I can't pull the kids out of school anymore. Have fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

9/4 may be perfect! They say the closer you get to Halloween, the more crowded it gets, so good for you. :) All things happen for a reason, so they say.

Some of the characters are dressed up. Mickey and Minnie are dressed up, and I think the rest of Mickey's friends are at the dance parties, they're dressed up, too. And as someone already said, Eeyore does appear during the MNSSHP, but not in a dance party. He's near the Pooh ride in Fantasyland, and he's dressed up, too. :thumbsup2

And don't worry about being an adult in line for characters - lots of adults meet characters, just have fun. :)

Thank you.

I'm hoping that the party will be pretty empty becuase most people aren't in the Halloween spirit yet! Even if it's packed to the gills, we'll still have a great trime. :thumbsup2

Not all but most are in costumes. Mickey and Minnie, Pooh and friends are in costumes. I've also seen Donald and Goofy in a costumes as well.

Yesterday, I heard from a CM that Donald will be wearing a great big pumpkin this year. Sounds adorable!

So we were not going to do this party because I didn't want to spend the extra $200 for the tickets. However, after reading this thread I think that I have had a change of heart. I am sure that my boys wil love the party!! We will be going to the party on 9/4 which is our last night there...what a way to end the trip!! We have 8 am ADR's at CP...will do a little touring and leave the park aroung 12pm. We may swim in the afternoon and get ready to head to the party around 5 pm. Okay, not I need to go back and read the other 40 pages to this thread.

That's awesome! I'm sure your boys will never forget this special night. Have a blast, and let us know all about it!

How cute! Thanks for that info, I adore pumpkins! :lovestruc BTW, is Daisy around at the parties? If no one knows about, I'd be happy to report back on twitter during the party (just begging for followers )

Quick Question

Is there only 1 line for groups of characters?

For instance
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1 line one photo with ALL of them?

Tarzan, Jane, Terk, Rafiki, and Baloo 1 line one photo with ALL of them?

Alice, Tweedle Dee and Dum, the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts 1 line one photo with ALL of them?

Peter Pan, Wendy, Hook, and Smee 1 line one photo with ALL of them?

Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, and Genie 1 line one photo with ALL of them?

Little Einsteins 1 line one photo with ALL of them?

Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet 1 line one photo with ALL of them?
Is Darby or Christopher Robin with them?

Etc.

Is Eric with Ariel?

I know Mickey and Minnie are in their own places so I know there is 1 line for each

I also know you stand on the princess line but get the 2 sets of characters Cinderella/Prince Charming and Aurora/Prince Phillip separately just like for the MVMCP
Same thing for the fairies

OK so maybe not such a quick question

We are going to MNSSHP on Sept 4. It will still be hot. I was thinking just Halloween t-shirts. I saw a few at Target. Are they out at Old Navy yet? Also do they sell MNSSHP t-shirts or anything my younger ones could wear as costumes at the party or anywhere in WDW? Not looking for full costumes--too hot.

Hey there stranger! We're new to MNSSHP, but I've been reading up quite a bit.... My understanding is that Eric was a special thing they did only for the Pirate & Princess party. We were there 3 times and never did make it to that line. If I knew how rare that was, we would have been there!

I'm also curious to hear the lineup on characters. I know at the Christmas Party, Alice and the Queen rotated with the Mad Hatter and the Tweedles (well.. the tweedles were a two-fer...). But even then there was a separate line for each individual character. Not really the special photo op I pay money to do a party for!

At the Pirate & Princess party, Genie and Abu rotated with Aladdin and Jasmine, but the picture was with both.

I can't wait for 9/4 to get here so we can start getting some reconnaissance from the field!!!!

in past years, the halloween t-shirts for that year's party come out in the Main Street shops at exactly 7 p.m. when the party officially starts. You will have a great time! We have done it on the 31st for three years, and are headed back with our adult kids this year for a fourth. The parade and fireworks are our favorites!

Hey there stranger! We're new to MNSSHP,

Hi there Lady long time no see ;) As you can see I have been around forever :cool1: just never really posted much. I posted on AOL Disney board all the time and lurked here often ;)

Now there's no more AOL so you gals are stuck with me

I have been to MVMCP a couple times.
I saw Aladdin/Jasmine, Cinderella/Prince Charming, Aurora/Prince Philip, Snow White/Prince together as couples.

I do hope the characters are groups and not individuals because I have a character list the size of Santa's naughty list that I need to get through LOL

Hi I'm Tracy and I am a charac-ta-holic LOL

Quick Question

Is there only 1 line for groups of characters?

For instance
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1 line one photo with ALL of them? -- YES

Tarzan, Jane, Terk, Rafiki, and Baloo 1 line one photo with ALL of them? -- I have not seen Tarzan/Jane so I'm not sure about them. When I met the others they were separate.

Alice, Tweedle Dee and Dum, the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts 1 line one photo with ALL of them? -- Separate.

Peter Pan, Wendy, Hook, and Smee 1 line one photo with ALL of them? -- When I met them Peter and Wendy were together, Hook and Smee were together.

Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, and Genie 1 line one photo with ALL of them? -- I have not met Abu. When I met the others they were Aladdin and Jasmine together, the Genie alone.

Little Einsteins 1 line one photo with ALL of them? -- I'm not sure if the Einsteins are still at the MNSSHP or not. We saw them in 2006 but they were not there in 2007. We missed last year. When we met them in 2006 they were all together in one group.

Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet 1 line one photo with ALL of them?
Is Darby or Christopher Robin with them? -- When we met them they rotated in groups of two. We waited in one line but met the characters separately -- so, one line for Tigger and Piglet, two photos, for example. I have never seen Darby or Christopher Robin out for meet and greets.

Etc.

Is Eric with Ariel? -- I think that was for P&P only, not MNSSHP.

I know Mickey and Minnie are in their own places so I know there is 1 line for each -- Correct.

I also know you stand on the princess line but get the 2 sets of characters Cinderella/Prince Charming and Aurora/Prince Phillip separately just like for the MVMCP

Same thing for the fairies -- It's been three fairies when I've been there, in the same room, but separate photos. So only one line to wait in but you don't get your picture with all of them at the same time, but separately.

OK so maybe not such a quick question
Hope that helps. :goodvibes
