MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

If I decide the Thursday prior or Friday morning, what is the least painful way to purchase tickets without waiting on line at the MK?
Can I purchase at any Disney hotel? If I purchase other than MK, do I still have to go to MK to pick up my tickets (not the wristband, but the actual tickets?).
Thank you.

I too was wondering this.

We are waiting to get an idea of the weather before we purchase them.

We are going on 9/22 (so excited, first time for all of us!) Does the park close at 4pm that day to the general public? Can we go in at 4pm for the party? How does this work?

It doesn't close to the public at 4, since the party doesn't start until 7. They begin ushering out those without tickets at about 6, even though partygoers can enter at 4 with only their party ticket.

Regarding the wristbands, make sure the CM doesn't make it too tight like mine was last year. It may sound trivial but it bothered my wrist and I kept tugging on it all night. Of course I was too busy having fun to do anything about it...but this year I'll pay closer attention when they attach it. Duh.

that's a great tip:

I always put a finger on my wrist and make the CM's put the wristband around my wrist and my finger. If you have a little one I would ask the CM to put it on the ankle it's less annoying to them I use to do that for my son.

Anytime a CM asked to see my wristbands usually the adults show and the kids are ok not to show but remember you might get that ONE CM that wants to see all of them so remember where you put it on your kid LOL

I cannot wait. This will be our 4th year doing ghosts from the Haunted Mansion at MNSSHP. We are 6 adults, no kids. This is our favorite time of the year to head down to Disney!

We will be attending two parties this year. We will go in costume on Sept 29th and not in costume on Oct 1st

Here is a picture of us from 2007 - Disney actually asked if they could take our pictures in the studio. It has, by far, been the best 'free' souvenier we have ever recieved!

We met you guys last year on our way out of the parks (as we were all getting kicked out at the end of the night). You guys were the BEST! Thanks for letting us get some pics with you. We will be there this year again, but probably on Friday Oct. 2nd (hoping the crowds aren't horrible on a Friday for the party).
Thanks for adding to the Disney magic! If i could figure out how to post pics, I'd put up some of the ones we have with you.

Speaking of that...how are the crowds for the party on a Friday night (oct. 2 this year) as opposed to other nights. It was really low crowd when we were there and i LOVED it.

We are going Oct 2 and then again Oct 6. I hope it's not crowded on the 2nd since that is the party for mom and i to do what we want without my 8 year old complaining :woohoo:. the party on the 6th is for my 8 year old to do what he wants (without us complaining :scared1:

blackbunny13 - you guys by far have the best Halloween costumes that I have seen anywhere!

Dissy - great tip on the flashlight

I love reading all of these tips and I am so thankful to all who post them! We are going to our first party this year. My only pet peeve is that some people post the same questions over and over again.

I have a suggestion for those of you who do not live near a Disney Store and want those bags. I used to work at a Disney Store. We would take phone orders, charge to a credit card and ship the item(s). You will have to pay shipping charges. This is not a popular thing...it is not done frequently so some CM may not know how to do it or might say it isn't done. It's very uncommon. Just ask for a manager. I also suggest calling at a slow time as they will be more helpful. Mornings during the week are good. If you call on a Fri night or Sun afternoon, they will be very busy and it will be difficult to help you. Hope that helps someone!

Just to let everyone know, you don't have to buy the fancy halloween bags before you go. THEY SELL THEM AT DISNEY WHEN YOU GET THERE. They were EVERYWHERE. All the resorts had them for sale in the gift shops. They had a million of them. They were NOT $2.50 though. They were more like $10 bucks. Last year they were a basic tote bag made out of felt. The bags that they give at the parties for free are plastic smaller bags but more than big enough and easy to carry around during the party.
But you do NOT have to buy the disney bags before you get there. They have them!

I bought my tickets last year at the guest services desk at my resort. It was simple and charged them to my room! (We were at Asmu, so even values have these and no line!) I just waited until a few days before the party to make sure everything was going as planned, hope that helps

My hubs and I went last year. He wore a scary jack-o-lantern shirt, and I wore halloween scrubs because I am a nurse. We were both comfy and the party was great. The scrubs were slightly hot, but only cause I had ordered the wrong size so it hung funny and clung to my back. We had a blast! It was our anniversary, and we had so much fun we are going back for our anniversary again this year!

did you pay full price or advance price?

Just wondering what time and how long the dance party with Stich and Ariel is. I am trying to have a plan of action put together at the last minute.

When it rains, where are the characters? Just thinking that everyone we saw last year was not undercover. I think finding the QOH and Mad Hatter in the rain could be hysterically funny:)

I think the Alice in Wonderland characters head to the Toontown Hall of Fame Tent, while Mickey and Minnie go to the Judge's Tent.

I just got my MNSSHP tickets today for October 8th! I am so excited! I love Mickey mail!!!:woohoo:

Did you call to buy them and ask for them to be mailed to you? I called and paid with a CC, but haven't seen them yet. Didn't think to ask how I would get them.

DD and I will be there on the 8th also.:thumbsup2

I bought mine online and paid with a credit card. At the end I was given the option of printing them out, having them mailed, or picking them up at will call. You might give them a call and see which method you chose. Good luck!

Do week night parties (Tuesday/Thursday) typically sell out? We are decideding between 10/6 and 10/8 but I want to wait and get the weather forecast before we buy.

Just go our ticket this week. I really can't wait to go MNSSHP is the best. We are going 10/27 and 10/31. I still couldn't believe there was a 40.00 price diffrence from the 27th to the 31st. I'm sure the 31st will be crazy. I couldn't afford the tickets til this week. So I am excited the 31st wasn't sold out yet. What are the crowds like the 31st?

I just called and ordered and they said there would be a fee for mailing them and told me it could take two weeks to get them. We got them in a few days because we are Florida residents. Mickey was on one and Goofy was on the other.

Does anyone know how long the characters greet for? Because I am wondering maybe if we wait to see our favs the lines could be a bit shorter.
Also, am I going to be one of the few adults in these lines?

Are all the characters dressed up in costume or just a few? Do we get a list or something when we get the park maps saying who is dressed up or not?

We are going on Friday October 23rd because of work and such. More crowded?

Is Eeyore at any of the dance parties?

I used this theory at the last Pirate & Princess party we went to last year. I knew the princess lines were long, but thought they'd clear out late at night when all the little kiddies got tired and left. Boy was I shocked at 10:30 to find the line still over an hour long.....

If a character meet & greet is important to you, be there by 6:30 waiting for them.......
