MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

the Pooh characters usually stay where they are in the daytime and change out in pairs-that line stay long-with little kids-I would love the pictures but the anger from my boys isn't worth the picture.

First trip to MNSSHP! Going Oct. 23rd to celebrate 25th birthday! Have a few questions if that's alright.Before when we have gone to these parities, the crowds really didn't thin out until about 7 PM. Is that true for MNSSHP as well? I 'm interested in getting my pic taken with Halloween dressed up Eeyore, are the characters all in one area or are they scattered throughout? Does anyone know if there will be special MNSSHP merch besides the pins? Thanks, Amy

That's our anniversary too (5 years) We decided to go to the party on the 20th though since it was cheaper.

Anyone know why there are no discounted tickets available for the party on Thursday, Oct. 15? We fly in that day and hope to be at the MK by 4pm. Just curious - is it some holiday I am not aware of in FL? I can see the tickets costing more on the weekends but why on a Thursday? It is the only week day date that offers no discount on advance tickets.

blackbunny13 - you guys by far have the best Halloween costumes that I have seen anywhere!

Dissy - great tip on the flashlight

I love reading all of these tips and I am so thankful to all who post them! We are going to our first party this year. My only pet peeve is that some people post the same questions over and over again.

I have a suggestion for those of you who do not live near a Disney Store and want those bags. I used to work at a Disney Store. We would take phone orders, charge to a credit card and ship the item(s). You will have to pay shipping charges. This is not a popular thing...it is not done frequently so some CM may not know how to do it or might say it isn't done. It's very uncommon. Just ask for a manager. I also suggest calling at a slow time as they will be more helpful. Mornings during the week are good. If you call on a Fri night or Sun afternoon, they will be very busy and it will be difficult to help you. Hope that helps someone!

I was just at the Disney Store at Mall of America, in MN they had one halloween bag left only! ( i already bought mine a few weeks ago there) They also started putting out costumes, buzz, woody and jesse had a huge wall. They also had a few others, but the display wasn't complete yet.

Does anyone know, or have a feeling that Pixie Hollow will be open on party nights for Tinkerbell and fairy meet and greets?

I'm afraid that the lines will be too long for the whole vacation and we'll miss our chance to meet Tinkerbell!

Thanks. :tink:

Yes, the lines are open, but I don't think it's any different than going during regular park hours. I'd rather use my limited party hours doing things unique to the party.

I'd just check back several times to see Tink. Sept/Oct are not typically high traffic times at the parks.

If you're really worried about it, I'm guessing parade/fireworks times, especially during the party, should be fairly slow.

I wondered about it on our last trip too. I didn't want to be in a stampede at rope drop, so we went mid-morning. The wait was about 45 minutes. Not great, not bad.

Have fun!

If you don't want to use party time for the Fairies go to ToonTown for their rope drop which is at 9:45 daily. We've done this 2xs,arriving between 930 and 945 and then been among the fairies first visitors of the day. We are always out before the 10am "posted" opening of TT.

It's during Columbus Day week, not sure if that makes a difference or not (I didn't check ticket prices for any other day that week to compare). Also, I think some school districts in Florida have the 16the as a day off. That could be the difference there. To some locals the 15th would be like a Friday, with no school on the 16th. :confused3

I'm not sure if this was an answer to another poster or not. If it was I missed the question, sorry. I just wanted to say that the Pooh characters meet during the party across from the Pooh ride, in front of Pooh's Playground. They do meet in pairs and are in costume. When we have met them during the party it was photos only, no autographs.

If you are interested in autographs and aren't dining at Crystal Palace, I'd try to meet them at AK instead. Usually Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore are on a path right as you enter Dinoland, to the right. Character Landing it might be called, or something like that.

Oh thank you, I was saddened when someone said only before the party! Don't really care about autographs, so I am good!

Mom, Zach & I are going to the party twice - Oct 2nd and Oct 6th. The first party is for mom and I to go character hunting without Zach complaining (we are bringing his DS that night LOL). The second date is for Zach to do what he wants without US complaining. I'm trying to gather as much info I can for the first party date so I'm not wasting time. I don't think I will see the parade the first night since I can use that time to get some photos of characters while others are watching the parade but you never know :o)

I have read all 41 pages in this post plus posts elsewhere about MNSSHP and this is the info I have gathered so far. I hope it helps someone.

01. * take a rest during the day before the party.

02. * You can get into the park at 4pm with your MNSSHP ticket. This is a great way to avoid the 7pm rush of people coming out of the park! None of the party activities begin until 7pm. The reason to get in at 4pm is to get your wristbands, candy bags, settle in, get something to eat, map out your game plan and you will be ready at 7pm to participate in the festivities. If you get there at 7pm, you will have to wait in a long line to get in and get your wristbands and candy bags and you will be later starting the party. If you don't plan to get to MK at 4pm when you can first get in, still plan to go somewhat early if you are traveling via buses from the resorts. Many, many, many families go back to the resorts for their children to change into their costumes and then catch the bus to return to the MK for a 7pm party.

03. * Second Parade is much less crowded.

04. * Do not waste time early in the party waiting on lines for candy. Towards the end of the party, the lines disappear, and "SOME" cast members will give out candy by the handfuls. They actually will try to fill your candy bag to the top if you let them. Again not all cast members do this.

05. * If you are a BIG candy hog make sure you bring your own big trick or treat bag. Disney does hand out smaller bags about the size of a sandwich paper bag. Don't forget to say THANK YOU (it is nice to hear).

06. * Just outside of the Carousel of Progress, they have a candy station set up where you walk through some illuminated hoops, and end at barrels where cast members are stationed to distribute the candy. Early in the evening, you will be waiting on line to get candy. Later in the evening, you will be able to walk right through and get the candy. If you wish, you can continue looping though as many times as you like.

07. * Headless Horseman - Line up early he comes out about 15 minutes before the parade starts.

08. * Photo Ops - I would suggest you line up on your first MUST character line before 7:00.

* Cinderella's coach is out in the Fantasyland stroller parking area (next to It's A Small World). Get there early- the line gets long and closes quickly.

* Tarzan, Jane, Terk, Rafiki, and Baloo are in a large room next to the Dole Whip stand that is opened up for the party. As you exit, they give you special candy it was different from the candy being distributed elsewhere. It's on your right as soon as you cross over the bridge to Adventureland. You enter the room referred to through doors that are adjacent to the little dining area. There are cast members stationed there inviting people in, and there is a small sign identifying the area.

* Alice, Tweedle Dee and Dum, the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts are on the trail between Toontown and Tommorrowland.

* Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are in Fantasyland near Dumbo or the entrance to Toontown, fairly close to the teacups (I have heard different stories of where they are - so check with a CM) Get there early- the line gets long and closes quickly.

* Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween Costumes were at the beginning of Main Street, in a Gazebo, between Exposition Hall and the Train Station. I also heard you can find Mickey in costume in his house and Minnie in Toontown Hall. Again ask a CM

* Donald at Donald's Boat

* Goofy at Barnstormer

* Cinderella/Prince Charming and Aurora/Prince Phillip should be in Toontown in the Princess room

* Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet are out, in costume near Pooh's Playground

* Woody, Jessie and Bullseye should be in Frontierland, near the Diamond Horseshoe

* Peter Pan, Wendy, Hook, and Smee should be near the PotC ride

* Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, and Genie should be near the Carpet ride

* Daisy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Belle at Toontown Town Hall gift shop

* Little Einsteins at Toontown Train station

* Ariel at Ariel's Grotto

* Goliath the Gargoyle behind Cinderella Castle

* Br'er Bear & Br'er Rabbit at Big Thunder Mountain

* Buzz Lightyear at Timekeeper

* Stitch at Cosmic Ray's

* Fairies in Toontown tent

* Stepsisters and Lady Tremaine in Belle's Garden (I heard Merlin was here at one time)

* Make sure you stick around after the Villains show, they come down and you can get pics with them! They don't do autographs, because of time constraints, but you can meet Malifecent, the Evil Queen, Cruella DeVil, the Queen of Hearts, Frollo, Captain Hook, and Jafar. The villains are out for about 15 minutes after all of their shows EXCEPT for one show. There is one show per night that they don't stay out after because there isn't enough time, I heard it was the show before the fireworks.

09. * Other Photo Ops-There's a Mickey ghost on a pathway near Crystal Palace, the store Windows on Main St, a HUGE Pumbaa in Adventureland -- the candy stops have neat displays to take photos after the crowds die down.

10. * Enjoy the hidden gems: the ghouls in front of HM are awesome and if they tease you, zing 'em back.

11. * If it calls for rain bring your ponchos.

12. * During the party Face painting is FREE

13. * Face makeup doesn't run too much in rain, but does smear when you try to wipe the pouring rain off your face.

14. * If you want MNSSHP T-shirts (last year's were about $20-$24, be sure to buy them sooner than later during the night. They do run out.

15. * Take your Glow Sticks with you. Cheaper than buying them there. Maybe bring a small flashlight for map reading or walking in the dark LOL

16.* Remember to take it all in, RELAX and have fun. You probably won't be able to do every single thing so do your MUSTS first

NUTZ for Disney...thanks for that! Even though we went last year, I am copying and saving this for this year.

I would like to add that when we went to MNSSHP last year....

Snow White and the 7 were almost at the entrance to toontown. They did not do autographs.

The Villians talk to you and dig the "evil" character costumes after their show, even though they don't do the autographs.

We went to take pictures with Cindys carriage after the parade and fireworks and there was only a 5 minute wait. Once you leave there, to the left is a huge Mickey pumpkin head illuminated in the water.

There is a huge blow up Stitch on top of the building that holds Monsters Inc.

You MUST get your picture taken in front of the horseless carriage in front of the HM. When you see it on photopass...you have a "guest" in your picture.

I don't know if there is any advantage to waiting for the princess during the party. We did this last year, and it was Cindy and her prince, and Aurora and Prince Phillip. Are they the same ones there during the day?

I do know that you can only see the Princes during special events: MNSSHP, MVMCP, P&PP etc. Maybe that is the only difference

I won't be doing the fairies during the party since I can see them at anytime during my trip. I am only trying to get to those characters that are Halloweenish (Villains & characters in "costume")

thanks for the other tips. I'm gonna add them to my list :)

Awesome Recap Nutz4Dizney! Thanks! I included it on the first post for easy reference for future readers! You're awesome! :cool1:

WOW I have never been on display before :) thanks.

I must thank everyone else for sharing their hints and tips, if not for them my list wouldn't exist.

I just can't wait! We will be there on 9/18. I have reservations @ 1:30 at BBB 3:00 at Pirates League and Dinner ADR' 5:00PM at Whispering Canyon (just a boat ride away). My DD will wear a Cindy Nightgown from the clearance rack at the Disney Store. I will probably just have PoC shirt with his pirate league gear. I still need to think of something for my DH and I to wear. Thanks to all the great tips and ideas maybe we will just get face painting and call it a costume. I cant wait to Party Disney style!

I just got my Halloween Bags today. :cool1: My mom picked them up for me :goodvibes When my mom asked for the the bags the CM asked her how did she know about them and my mom laughed and a said what doesnt my daughter know know about disney :lmao:
Thanks guys for the heads up :rotfl:
So Im very happy I got 3 of them even though the cm charged my mom for 4 of them. Mom didnt notice she got charged for 4 until I showed her reciept :confused3
