I thought I'd start this additional thread to the MNSSHP Party Central Thread!

When are you going?
Tuesday, October 26th. Have LTT PS for 5:15 pm (our first time!)

Who are you going as?
Deb - Alice in Wonderland
Mel - Mad Hatter
Cameron - Captain Hook
Codey - Mr. Smee
Conner - Peter Pan

Where did you get your costome? Or, what pattern did you use to make your costume?
I purchased the Captain Hook costume last year at the DS for half price. I still need to purchase the accessories, though.
I found Alice, Mad Hatter, and Peter Pan on www.HollywoodCostumesAndParty.com, but am trying to get them cheaper on eBay, using the website as a last resort.
Alice Costume - I puchased a medium through eBay and I think it's mis-sized & should be a Small!!! I tried it on the other night & there was a 2-3" gap in the back where the velcro is to meet! I'm in the middle of losing weight & my goal is to lose another 28 pounds to reach my 140 Lb. goal before WDW. This dilemma is really encouraging me to do achieve this goal & I know that I will be able to fit in it at that point (atleast I hope so!!)
I'm going to look on my own for Mr. Smee's outfit whenever I'm shopping, because I haven't found an "official" costume anywhere, yet.

Any other ideas or comments you'd like to share.
I was thinking of dh & I going as Cinderella & Prince Charming, but dh wanted to have a more fun costume & the Mad Hatter fits him to a "T"!
I was hoping for our family to all be dressed from one movie, but was hard to come up with one.
I didn't want the boys to be dressed in any full-bodied costumes like Pooh, Tigger, etc., as they would be too hot for WDW.
I also looked for costumes that we could all move freely in.
I hope to be able to meet some of you at this family fun event!!

When are you going?

Who are you going as?
My wife is going as tigger (for the second year in a row). Last year, I didn't dress up and I got heckled big time by the CMs! Here, my wife is dressed up in full "Tigger" costume mode, and I'm wearing shorts and a button shirt. We were real famous on the "Splash Mountain" pictures.

I haven't decided if I am going to dress up this year.

DD maybe tinkerbelle, Ds maybe peter pan, or maybe both as pirates. My DS wants to be goofy but I've never seen a costume or any ideas about one for goofy.

We will buy from the Disneystore online or from ebay

Buying felt made hats from oriental trading company that look like crabs and wearing red shirts and being "Maryland Crabs" -thought it was original since we are from maryland. Now if I can just get my DH to wear it.........
DS-6year old wants to be a shark -they have felt hats also for this
DS-12 wants to be obiwan from star wars

For the person who wanted to be goofy..........A few years ago, I bought a goofy baseball hat at disney. His face was on the front and had two long ears that hung down. You could always buy a goofy hat there , I am sure they still have them or any other character for that matter!

2nd time going to the party and I LOVE IT!

In 2001- my DD (age 13) went as Annette F. as a Mouskateer. She wore a round black skirt and a white shirt with Annette on it. My friend found an original Mouskateer button at an antique store. She also wore Mickey ears on her short, curly brown hair. Many cast members complemented her on her costume and several people pointed her out as we walked around.

I plan on sewing them myself. I keep reminding DD that it will be still warm and that she needs a costume that will be easy to wear on the rides! I guess I will make a back up just in case!

I'm going to try to get friends to join me as well. I want a whole big group but we shall see.

I found a blouse on ebay. I'm still working on the rest of it

Any other ideas or comments you'd like to share.

Don't be afraid to dress up. I don't care how old you are! I went last year as Alice in Wonderland and had a blast! I think wearing a costume is half the fun of going to the event. When else can an adult dress up at the park without getting thrown out?

Sometimes finding a costume is just a matter of searching through your own closet.

When are you going?

We will be there on Oct. 17th. Currently have a PS at LTT at 5:30 but may switch to CP 90 days out.

Who are you going as?

DH-Santa in summer clothes
Me-Mrs. Claus in summer clothes
DS2 - elf
DS7 - reindeer
our 4 friends have no idea yet what they will be (and knowing them will wait until the last minute to figure it out).


My MIL is sewing our costumes for us and I am doing all the decorating of them. DS7 came up with the idea. It took a bit of convincing to get DH to do it. His requirements were that we did it as a "theme" and that he wouldn't have to wear any hot furry costumes. I had thought of going as "tropical tourists" (hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, etc...) or as cannibals (bone necklaces, etc...) but he thought those were both too 'typical' - go figure. So Santa and family it is...mind you DH is a bit chunky and tall but blond and no beard and although I have short hair it's red, not white, and straight, not curly. What'll make us the claus' will be red costumes and I'll be wearing a christmas apron and carrying a plate of fake milk & cookies. DS7 has antlers w/lights hanging on them and a brown costume and DS2 has a green costume that'll have bells hanging on it.

Hope it's "politically correct" to pretend to be Santa in a park full of kids! YIKES! I just thought of that!!!

[Who's going to MNSSHP?

My whole family - 2 sisters, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 4 grandparents of various sorts, my DH, 2 DS, 1 DD, and myself!


Who are you going as?

My family (husband and 3 teenagers and myself) are going as generic pirates. I'm making a costume for my nephew, as well, and will have eyepatches and assorted other things for the rest of the family.

Where did you get your costome? Or, what pattern did you use to make your costume?

We are attending the Ohio Renaissance Festival on Pirate Weekend, and so I'll be making the costumes anyway. I don't know if I'm using any patterns at all - I like acquiring pieces from thrift shops and working them into full blown costumes!


This should be a blast!

This may be a silly question, but we are going in Oct also, and I thought I couldn't do my PS's until July (90 days ahead). Is this different if you are going to LTT?

Yes, it is different!! Check out the "official" MNSSHP Party Central thread for LOTS of information regarding that and lots of other valuable information. That's where I found out about it for the first time! I think that advance LTT PS's are only available on MNSSHP or MVMCP evenings. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

We aren't able to attend MNNSHP, but in the past my kids have done local trick or treat as Fantasmic Mickey, Pooh, Woody, Dopey, Piglet and Peter Pan. I love making my own costumes and they have won many local costume contests. Disney is my favorite theme.

Please remember how incredibly hot it can be at WDW, even at night in October. Last year I was clopin, basically wore shorts, decorated polo shirt, and felt jester hat and I was SO HOT,,DD went as Esmerelda and spent the whole night dismantling the costume...waist drape, jewelry, anything "extra" that was weighing her down and making her sweaty. It was awful, looking at all those little kids in pooh, simba, and care bear costumes. I'm surprised they didn't have heat exhaustion!

We kept it easy and went as tourist! We wore Hawiian print shirts, leis, camera, and white sunscreen on our noses! It was cool, comfortable and easy to pack! Enjoy!!

We'll be at the party 10/31, our first full day there! I can't wait!! I bought Cinderella & Buzz from ebay, still looking for Belle. Not sure, DH will probably only agree to wear a themed shirt. Wanted us to go as Woody & Jessie but he's resisting.

I'm going on the 26th I believe with my mum, dad and two brothers. I think I'll be the only one dressed up but I'm so excited for it!

I got my costume for a dress up day in school to raise money for the performing arts department. It was just bits and bobs I found here and there and then a very kind DISer lent me their ears. I shall have to purchase some in the few days before hand to complete my outfit! Oh I can hardly wait!

When? - October 29th - don't have PS's for that night, but will be making them for my birthday at Garden Grill.

Who are you going as? - DD & I are dressing up, but undecided as of yet.
I thought about going as a fairy, but I think the wings will get in the way. DH isn't going to dress up after all because he can't wear the mask that he wants to.

I might even go as some kind of showgirl. Have lots of dance costumes that I could use for that. But really don't feel like wearing some heels all night.

DD could easily go as Alice in Wonderland as she has long blonde hair, but I know she won't do that, and I probably can't talk her into Tinkerbell even though that is her favorite character. I've tried to get her to do that since she was little. She did go as Alice one year (age 4), (I didn't give her a choice, she had the dress and shoes and hair and that was final- LOL)

We are doing this trip for my birthday. We wanted to check out SoG since the renovations, and I wanted to do MNSSHP and so we booked for that weekend. I can't wait.
