I just booked for Sept 22. Was really not planning but family really had a rough summer with some health concerns and so I decided we deserved a little extra treat on our trip

questions:

Are there some must see areas for character purposes?

Best place for parade and fireworks?

What are some good costume suggestions for boys in the heat? 5 y/o dresses as Captain Jack every day so that is probably what he will want to be but 8 y/o will need some sort of costume then

Do most parents/grownups dress up also?

Thanks for the input.

My son wants to be Jack Sparrow. I am thinking that is going to be awfully hot. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions too.

We went this past October.... I was not even going to book it... So, glad I did.... We loved it... Best place to see fireworks, at the end of main street... close to the castle (but not directly in front of it..) The castle looks all creepy but at the end they shoot the fireworks off all around you, from every corner of the park... very cool... The parade was incredible.... I took so many pictures, we had to watch the second one just so I could enjoy it as well...

My sons were, DS (9) was Jack Sparrow, I had got it at the Disney Store before we left and it was pretty light, he wore shorts and a tee shirt under it And DS (7) was Captain Hook, also bought at the Disney Store that one was alittle heavier but not to bad....

The characters are all over, more then I have ever seen during any other time... We even saw Snow White and all of her guys and even the wicked step mother.... Now that was a photo op.. (Not for us though.. kids were on the prowl for more candy)

It was an amazing time... also, I don't know if they are doing it again this year.. but last year they had 2 or 3 picture places set up, and they take your picture and each person in your party (even the little ones) gets a copy of the picture they mail it to you... It came out great, It will be out this year in my MNSSHP frame........

Alot of adults dress up.... Not me... well, I just wore a orange shirt with a witch on it and black shorts.... Festive... I think!!!

Have fun... You will!

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to DIS, but not WDW. (I'm getting my LGMHPC to day!!) I'm going 10/7 - 10/13 with my friend from Brazil and her kids, ages 7 & 9. I have a few of questions that hopefully someone can answer......

#1 - what's the weather like in early Oct.? Day & night. I have a really cool Malificent costume but I don't want to sweat to death.

#2 - We have ressies at 5:15 for CRT. Don't want to wear costumes to dinner, so is there a place we could change into our costumes????

#3 - Anyone have any good tips for getting the most out of MNSSHP? (Where's the best place to start, view parades, see "extras", etc.)
It will be my first one and I want it to be great!!!
Thanks!

My boyfriend and I went in 2004, and we really struggled a lot with temperature considerations before we went. He went as Lumiere and I went Babette. For his costume, he wore a yellow sweatshirt and sweatpants and carried around two battery operated candles. (Hence the worries about temperature...) For my costume, I wore black leggings, a tan shirt, a French maid hat, and a belt that I attached about $100 of feather boas to. He was comfortable for the evening, but I was a bit on the chilly side. On the other hand, had we gone a few days earlier or later, we both would have roasted. Orlando fall weather can be hit or miss... my suggestion is to bring shirts and leggings that you can wear underneath a costume, just in case.

One of our favorite memories of that night was being stopped by a well-meaning CM who informed my boyfriend that he couldn't have lit candles in the park. You should have seen the look on the CM's face when my boyfriend twisted the light bulb to turn off the candles. (Followed immediately by a combination of an apology and "coool, can I see that?")

As far as the parade and fireworks went, Main Street (closer to the Castle end) worked well for us. There's fewer people in the park than a normal night, so we didn't find it hard to get a good spot. Then again, our favorite part of the parade was the Headless Horseman riding through before the parade began... wickedly spooky.

Some adults dress up, some don't. My daughter was dressed as Sleeping Beauty and was fine.

Mickey was hanging out behind his house in ToonTown (not in the tent) dressed like a scarecrow. Donald and Goofy were also crusing the streets in ToonTown. I think that's where you get the most characters (Alice was about, too). Plus - it's fun to trick or treat at Mickey's house.

For the parade, we stayed just past Liberty Square, but since it is so less crowded, you won't have a problem finding a good spot.

I have a picture of my wife in Frontierland, and there is no one else at all around - bizzare to be in the parks with no one else.
