With MNSSHP quickly approaching, I thought I'd throw out an idea/podcast segment request. It seems that the team usually covers the first or second night of the Halloween party, which is great because we get to hear about it early in the season. I love hearing the review, but I'm wondering if part of the podcast team could do a review (or re-review) of the party later in the season on a typically busier night.

I've never been to the Halloween party, but I did attend the Christmas party and my experience was vastly different from the (mostly) positive reviews I've heard because we happened to attend on a sold out night. It was early December, so we did not anticipate the party being sold out the night we attended. The crowds the night of the sold out party were actually the worst we encountered on our entire week-long trip, and I left the Christmas party thinking it was not worth the extra cost unless I would be attending on a quiet night.

Members of podcast team often discusses how great it is to be in the park with relatively low crowd levels during the parties, and talk about how awesome it is to have very short lines for most of the rides.

I'm wondering if the team's opinions of the parties would change if they attended on a busy night, and whether the team members would still think the party is worth the extra cost for the ticket (to see the the parade, special shows, get candy, etc.) if the park is packed full of people. Basically, I'm wondering if the extras at the Halloween party, including seeing characters that usually are not out around the park, would make it still worth enduring the crowds on a busy night.

Thanks for all the great coverage of these events at the parks! The podcasts really brighten my week!

Ya, know, I'm kind of happy to see this post, because your experience mirrors my own. I went to MNSSHP thinking it was going to be wonderful, and It was packed. The MNSSHP I went to was on a particularly hot October evening and my kids were miserable in their costumes. Of course as you do with kids, I tried to convince them to pick out more light weight costumes, but they insisted on the ones that they wore.

The next year we went to MCMCP and experienced the same thing. Wall to wall people.

It was a lot of money to shell out for my family of 5 and to me, it just wasn't worth it.

I alway feel like I must be crazy when I see the glowing reviews that the hard ticket parties get.

Unless Walt rises from the dead for the BOO to you Parade, I will never pay for another hard ticket party.

Yeah, I felt a little like Scrooge after the Christmas party; the crowds just made it far less enjoyable experience. But, I also think one of the great things about the Podcast and the Boards is being able to share a variety of experiences and learn from others about their WDW trip experiences.

For the Halloween party, I am excited about possibly seeing some of the villains that are not usually out around the park, but then again the lines for the "rare" characters at the Christmas party were so long (about an hour for each meet & greet), I don't know that the Halloween party would be worthwhile for us unless we can attend on slower night.

We were supposed to be at WDW this week entire, and I was excited to attend the first night of the Halloween party, but now we've had to cancel our September trip and move our trip to a weekend-only visit in October. Trying to decide if it's worth trying the Halloween party on a Sunday night in October, or if I should just wait for a future trip. I'd love to see the Halloween party, but it's going to be such a short trip that I kind of don't want to risk making our one day in MK the Halloween party because I'm concerned the crowds will just be unbearable.

I think the parties are vastly different if it's crowded. For starters, it's much harder to see the characters and get spots for the parades and fireworks.

I've been to one crowded not quite sold out MNSSHP and didn't have as much fun as the one I did that was much less crowded. I didn't expect that and didn't have a touring plan put together so I saw much less than the one I went to that was not crowded.

I've also done one in the rain where the first parade didn't happen so people assumed it was a washout and left.
That was a fabulous MNSSHP even if the 2nd parade was shorter and it was harder to find the characters because they were moved to different places indoors. It quit raining and everything started back up. The Magic Kingdom was pretty empty that evening.

I'm going to the one tonight once I get to Orlando so I'm interested to see how it will be.

This is MNSSHP number 4 for me and I'm expecting medium crowds because I believe the Limited Time Magic Unleash the Villians on Friday night will cause many people to go tonight so I'm trying to figure out how I want to tour it this year and what my priorities are.
