MNSSHP or not?

Out trip is a month away. I have all ADRS made and plans set. Now I am thinking about MNSSHP. It will cost us over $200 with tax. So is it worth it?

We've been 2x before during the time it was running, but skipped it. So what are your thoughts?

Hubby and I are fans of the party but if it's a strain on the budget to go then it's a no brainer since you've been before and skip it. If you can afford it without strain we say go for it. :cool1:

That's just it, we haven't been before!!! We've been to Disney 2 other times when it was 'running' but didn't go! Now I am thinking about it!

I went to the party 2x last year and had a lot of fun... most stuff was limited lines... and you do come away with decent amounts of sugar. LOL

I say do it!! The parade and awesome fireworks alone is worth it! Besides, where else are you going to see all the villains!

I love the trick or treating! :) Just a few sized down pictures

My DW had to talk me into it, but, we both had fun. I say it's worth doing at least once.

But, make a plan before you arrive -- even with advance planning we barely got everything we wanted accomplished in the time available.

I couldn't believe how expensive the tickets have gotten! :scared1:

We went to MNSSHP in '05, and we have done the Christmas party 3 times. The Halloween parade is the best part.

Do you actually get $200 of "worth" out of it? Eh...probably not. Depends on how long your boys can last. If they are night owls it could be really fun. DS was ready to go back to the hotel at 9 PM because his costume was hot and he refused to change. (I had a T-shirt & shorts for him at the park.) We stayed a little later but he was cranky the whole time. He was 9, if that helps you at all.

Please go and have fun.

I am going with my partner as well.

We are NOT wearing costumes, but I am considering wearing a hat or mask.
I just need to get brave.

I have gone before, it is a lot of fun, and I have to admit I am bad at any candy station giving out M and M's. I will circle back there a few times in just minutes. I hope my partner doesn't yell at me for that.

They do not officially advertise this, but you can enter the Magic Kingdom at 4 PM. So you can skip going to a park that day, and get a lot out of the special evening. It is kind of a cheap way to get a one park ticket if you think of it that way. They will give you a Halloween bag for everyone in your party.

I don't usually like the limited table service offered during the event, so I am planning to dine earlier at a resort restaurant before going to the event around 5 PM or later. There is several counter services opened during the event. But I prefer more Bakery and Ice Cream when I am collecting my Halloween Candy. Can I have some insulin with that piece of cheesecake?
But no fear, they have no sugar added items at the bakery, but the Halloween candy is all sugar based.

The last time I went, my Halloween bag was pretty full, leave room in your suitcase for the candy to go home with you ! I hope this year they have more Hershey and Mars products (chocolate please), and less of the non chocolate stuff.

I can't remember how I went on rides with the bag of Halloween Candy, Maybe I can get my partner to carry his backpack?

Have fun !

I read somewhere that they have announced this practice has been discontinued for this year. The followups seemed to get mixed responses as people spoke to CMs who said, "yep, absolutely, the policy has changed" and others spoke to CMs who said, "it's always been 4pm, I can't see them changing that."

Anyway, my feeling on this year is hope for 4pm, monitor what happens in the first few days of the parties and only count on 7pm.

I believe you are not allowed to wear a mask. Disney wants/needs to see your face.

If at all possible go at least once. Yes the tickets have gone up but which tickets have not! The parade and fireworks are spectacular, the candy is just a side benefit. We are adults (over 50) and make it a point to go if we are in the area. This one is much better than the christmas show (and I love anything christmas) but if I have a choice of the 2, I always choose MNSSHP. But I do love the Osborne lights and don't have to buy another ticket, LOL.

By all means, GO. The MK takes on a cool atmosphere with different lighting, special parades, fireworks, dance parties, etc. We went last year for the first time, and my partner was giving me the stink-eye. We'll be back in mid-October and the first thing he asked was if we were going back to The Party!

Here's a tip: watch the first parade, because there's a very good chance you'll want to see it again during its later run. It's that good.

Most nights aren't too crowded (relative to the days), and the Villains are a lot of fun. Even the characters wear costumes.

Not to be missed!

My SO and I went last year, and other than the extreme heat (which I've been told was a fluke, but it was near 100, ugh), it was a fantastic time. I really enjoyed the photopass opportunities. They gave us special cards, which I know don't really mean anything, but I like kitschy souvenirs, and we did several poses with the Haunted Mansion backdrop, including hitchhiking ghosts. Also, we were photographed by Cinderella's pumpkin coach. The photographer told us to stand like handsome princes, which made me smile. :thumbsup2

The fireworks show was also not to be missed. I loved hearing everyone scream in unison at the end, plus it was neat to hear the haunted mansion music fill the air.

Regarding trick or treating... we got so much candy, my entire office thanked me until December, before it finally ran out! lol!

I'll be going again on October 3rd, and I absolutely cannot wait.
