We're two twenty-somethings planning our ultimate Disney World vacation!!! But we can't decide...should we go in late September and catch Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party ('cause we love candy, costumes, and the Haunted Mansion) or do we go the week after Thanksgiving for Christmas Decor, Holiday goodies, and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party?!?!

Help us decide! What's your favorite????

I have been to both, and I think MVMCP is better. I loved the free hot chocolate, cookies (and now apple slices) and the fabulous parade.

However, MNSSHP was a great time also. DH made me do it because we had never tried it before. It was a lot of fun. The posts about WDW CM's filling your bags to the top didn't apply to us. Maybe since we were two adults who left the kids at home, they didn't try so hard with us. That was fine, we still got plenty of candy.

I love Christmas, and would never go to WDW without going to MVMCP.

I have the opposite opinion. Did MVMCP in 2010, and MNSSHP in 2011 and liked the Halloween party MUCH better.

Christmas party was nice, but Halloween seemed to have more a WOW factor for us -- probably had something to do with the fact that there are so many guests in costume.

At Christmas time, I prefer the FREE (well, with park admission) Osborne Lights at the Studios. That's simply amazing -- and it "snows" there too.

Both parties are fun but I prefer the Christmas one since I like Christmas more than Halloween anyway! Going to Disney World for the holidays is one of the best times to go. If it doesn't get you into the holiday spirit, nothing will!

Went to both within the last 2 years. Totally would do the MNSSHP over MVMCP! Loved the parade and watched it both times. The costumes we outstanding and it was not as crowded and we jumped on all the rides we wanted. Much more fun atmosphere too. DH agreed we'd do MNSSHP again but not MVMCP.

I would recommend Christmas, not just because of the party, but because of all of the other Christmas decorations and festivities like the Osborne Lights at DHS, the Candlelight Processional and Holidays Around the World at EPCOT, and the resort decorations, like the gingerbread house at The Grand Floridian and displays at the Boardwalk and Beach Club.

The week after Thanksgiving is a perfect time to enjoy all of these things with some of the lightest park crowds of the year.

Nope! This thread really isn't helping much! ;)

Just makes me believe we have to do both!!! I want to do MNSSHP for the trick-or-treating and all the villains, but I know we absolutely have to see the World at Christmastime! I guess we're just going to have to plan two trips!

I prefer the Halloween party myself. It's not as crowded and I adore the parade. I actually not like to watch parades normally and go out of my way to avoid them but is one is amazing!!

:)
I love the trick or treating and you see a lot more of the "bad" characters that you don't get to see often.

I'm not so sure this thread is going to help the original poster!

:rotfl2:

I can't really help you as I've only been to MVMCP and I really enjoyed it. I think it will probably depend on which holiday you prefer. I can't wait to go to MNSSHP one day, but as I work for the school board I can't get the time off :headache:

agreed. I hate parades, not a big fan of fireworks.... (there is an old video of me at disney sobbing.. I used to be TERRIFIED) but i make an exception JUST for Halloween. I've only been once, but it was SO much fun, i want to do it again. hopefully next year after the ToT 10 miler... if all the timing works out

Having been to both, I liked MNSSHP better than MVMCP. I do the party during the week (like a Tuesday night) and find it crowded, but not packed like on a Friday night. I enjoy the parade, shows and fireworks more.

I love the MNSSHP, dressing up in costume and the added bonus of the Food and Wine Fest at Epcot. This will be my first time in WDW for Xmas. I'm looking forward to all the decorations.
