We are planning a 10 day stay on October (8-18). We have never done the Halloween party before. We have two girls aged 7 & 3. This will probably be our only October trip as this time of year is a busy one at work. Would you recommend doing the party one or two times during our stay? I have read alot of reviews saying to keep costumes light as its hot. We are Canadian so what is the weather usually like in October?
TIA

I think once is enough. Weather from previous years can be found through Google by searching terms like "October 2014 Orlando weather".

I would say do it twice. It helps you not feel so rushed and overwhelmed. There is SO much to do during the parties that it's hard to get it all done in one night. We did it twice the year we went and I'm glad we did. And it's still pretty warm, so light, comfortable costumes would be best. Have fun!

It really depends on what you want to get out of the party. If you are looking to include rare characters meet and greets, then you may be better off with two. However. if all you want is short ride lines, the fireworks, and the parade, then once may be enough. The first year we did it, we did the trick or treat and decided that was enough of that. Collecting candy that, for the most part went uneaten, was a nightmare and really took away from the experience. I can't suggest strongly enough to avoid the trick or treating.

The most important thing, though, is to make your party day(s) non-park days outside of the party. In other words, do not use a regular park ticket to get there at noon and expect to be able to fully enjoy the party, It just won't happen. Arriving somewhere around 5:00-5:30 allows you to get the most out of the party without being totally exhausted by midnight. And, the later you stay, the better it is. Last time we went, right before midnight, we were able to stay on Big Thunder Mountain and Splash for a second ride, not get off and get right back in line, but actually stay on the rides.

Finally, nothing ruins a party worse than an uncomfortable costume. It is easy to get overheated and once that happens, impossible to cool back down. Make sure the costumes have shoes that are easy to walk in, fit easily on all rides you want to do, and are well ventilated.

If you can afford it, do it twice. That being said, it's possible to do it once and be very happy. Have each person in the party decide what one thing they want to do to be happy walking out at the end of the night, make sure that you hit those things, and everything else is just candy in the bucket. :-D

Plan it once early in the trip, if you happen to get rained out make sure you go to guest services if you decide to leave early and they can book you for another party later in the week.

you can wear costumes any day of the year and unless your there on top of halloween, you should be able to easily book it a second time if you feel it's worth it.

With 10 days you can definitely fit in a MNSSHP. We are going with our 5 year old twins this year. Take it easy that day and try a nap before heading to the party. I think October can still be hot but not as bad as September but I would keep costumes light. My DD is going as Vaneloppe from Wreck it Ralph and Im going as Queen of Hearts but we are using tank tops and tutus to keep it light. I would love to do two parties with all the other things planned and other late nights I chose just once so they aren't up too late too many times in a week leading to exhaustion.

To me the party is expensive. Even though I enjoy it I personally wouldn't do it twice because of the cost. I think the best advice would be to focus on the party events and not worry so much about rides. The rides are there all the time, the party events only happen during the party.

I would keep the costumes light, more than likely gong to be very hot. Even the evening are very humid.

As someone else already said if you can afford it plan to do it twice. There are characters out that are rarely seen. There are dance parties, trick or treating, the special parade which runs twice each party and the special fireworks. It's not easy to get it all done in one night and do the rides too. Back when it cost a lot less than it does now I always went two times.

We did it for the first time last year and we had a great time. We only regret wasting our first hours in line for the 7 dwarfs, but aside from that we loved it! I would say two times is unnecessary IMHO. For costumes we kept it light because it is knowingly hot in FLA in beginning of October. Must do's: Parade & Fireworks they are AMAZING.

We did it for the first time last year and loved it! We only did it once, as we were there for the second to last one, and stayed until the 1st MVMCP. We arrived at the park at 4 with our party tickets, and the kids were already in costume (boys were Iron Man, with the big muscle suits). It was hot up until about 6/7ish when it became more comfortable for the kids to be in costume (were also Canadian :)). They only reason we would have thought of doing it again was because we LOVED the parade & fireworks. If you can afford to do it twice, I would. Like I said, the parade and fireworks were one of our favourites!

Thanks everyone. I am really thinking of doing it twice seeings this will be our only chance to do Halloween. My girls love meeting the characters and I have always been a snow white lover so meeting the Dwarfs is a must. Maybe planning one early in our trip and if needed add another night night. That's a great suggestion and would never have thought of that. :) you guys rock

MNSSHP party is really fun. We have gone twice the last 2 years. It is so nice to be able to focus on characters one night and parades and shows, the Haunted mansion and enjoying the atmosphere the other. I am not a huge Halloween fan and I adore MNSSHP. I love Christmas and we have been to MVMCP multiple times and I never thought I would say that the Halloween party is better, but it really is! It is so fun to see the adult guests dressed up and the whole place just has a party atmosphere. If Jack Skellington and Sally are at all a priority, and you say the Dwarfs are also a must, it just about takes 2 parties to see both of those without wasting a bunch of party time. Both of those are ones you want to get in line for over an hour before the party starts so you don't spend all your valuable party time in line for them!

We went last year, and are going again this year. I think once during your trip is enough, especially if you plan ahead and get there at 4pm when they start letting the party guests into the park. I would definitely recommend a light costume as well as a change of clothes for anyone in costume.

Go once. Twice would be overkill I think.

Weather can be from 15-40 degrees, averages about 30ish I'd say.
