MNSSHP in August?!

Touring Plans has August 30th down as a MNSSHP. I realize that these are unofficial but why would they think there would be a party that night?? First of all its August! Secondly its a Monday.

This would be great for us seeing as how we are going Aug. 24th- Sept. 2nd!

Any thoughts??

Weird, I have the first one as being Friday, Sept 4 last year. So does the Disboard....

the first one to my knowledge was the 4th of Sept this past year.... 'normally' they don't start up weekday parties till closer to Halloween..... but hey if you get to go thats awesome!!

Touring Plans had as August date down for the 2008 party as well. We originally booked August 26 - Sept 3 and I was planning on doing the August MNSSHP touring plans listed. Unfortunately when Disney released the official dates the first date was September 4.

Fortunately for me my husband sensed how disappointed we all were. So we extended our stay to September 5.

We are planning to go to MNSSHP this October, and this time I am waiting for Disney to release the official dates.

Thanks for sharing. I'm always telling folks not to plan their vacation around an 'unofficial' or 'tentative' party date. You never know for sure until Disney releases the dates.

Any idea as to when the dates will be annouced? I am planning on heading down to WDW the week after labor day and would love to fit the party into my schedule.

They released the official dates in March. Tickets went on sale May 1.

No, the first party MNSSHP last year, was Sept. 4.

The MNSSHP dates are usually announced in April and go on sale in May. Really, the first Friday in September is very early for the Halloween party, I don't think they will do it any earlier than that.

Not to be a sourpuss, but I really hope there isn't a party at the end of August. We were there the last week of August last year and it was weird seeing all the decorations up for it already. We're going to be there again around the same time this year and it's weird seeing Halloween stuff when you're on your summer vacation. I know it's the value season and all that jazz, but it was August! They were also putting the lights on the castle so the crane was there, it was like a holiday mash-up.

I hope there is a party the week of Labor Day. That is why we are planning our trip in September. If there isn't, it won't kill us, but it would be nice.
DH and I went last year sans kiddos and really want to take the kids to see the parade and such.

I don't think you are being a sourpuss and I agree with you. We LOVE the MNSSHP, but August is too early.

Of course, I also think it's a bit too much that they start putting up Christmas decorations 2 days after Halloween.

We did an early MNSSHP last year. It was a great bonus to get a halloween party as part of our summer trip. Yes, halloween at the end of summer is a little weird, but completely fun!

If I'm not mistaken, I think Disney might have even fine-tuned their dates a bit between the time the dates were released last year and the day the tickets went on sale....

I am trying to be patient waiting for these dates. We want to book sept 2nd through to Sept 5 at wdw than head to vero but we are going to wdw for the party so I would love to see some dates come out. I was told it starts the firstFriday i Sept so that is what I am banking on.

I don't know why but I thought the party had an august date too. We went on Sept 11th last year and it was great.
