Hi everyone, not planning on the party till 2004 so plenty of time but am wondering if many people make their own cosumes or purchase them ? I would like to hand make ours but don't want to feel out of place . Thanks Michelle Oh got any Ideas on a theme for Mom, DD 10 and DS 8 ?? thanks again. Michelle

We went to MNSSHP last year, & some of the costumes were bought & some were made. I don't think you'll be out of place with a hand made costume.

Thanks -- Now I just need to come up with a Theme

maybe I could be Cruella and my DD and DS Puppys??

I love homemade costumes and have made many over the years. Although lately I have found with sales and all, it is cheaper to buy parts of them.

DD - Cinderella - store bought would probally be less expensive
DS - Knight in Shining Armor - gray sweatsuit with store bought shield, vest, sword and armor hat(can't think of what it's called)
you - fairy godmother, shop thrift stores for dress, make wand

Good luck and have fun!

momxx5 - thanks good idea

how about the 2 ugly step-sisters and prince charming !! hee hee me with a big old wart on my nose.. LOL

A group of 10 of use went last year for my niece's 12th birthday and went to our first MNSSHP! WE LOVED it and have so many memories. WE planned our costumes months in advance and my mom (bless her!) made:

Peter pan
Tinkerbell
Robin Hood (tights and all!)
pirate outfit
cape for my ariel outfit
AND
Cruella!!!!! (with fur trim that we found at a thrift store that was black and white/ put on red long coat!)
the hardest part of the out fit was finding a wig that was one side black and one side white!

Get in the spirit (YES even adults!) and have the time of your life!

I'm not going, but I think being mouseketeers would be fun!! Get sweatshirts and iron on letters for names (or was it turtle necks? I wasn't alive for the original), and black pleated skirts for the girls, black pants for the boys...and the skirts and pants can be worn again!

Ok, yes it's cheesy and dorky, but it's fun!! :Pinkbounc

I have gone to MNSSHP twice so far and I have gone in handmade costumes. the first year was Sorceror Mickey and Last year was the Statue of Liberty.. I am going this year and I will be in a handmade costume..of what i don't know yet.

Thanks so much with over a year to think up something great and to work on them I think I will be ok... Michelle ( I am feeling compeletly at ease now.. )

handmade costumes are great! especially for a themed large group. ive worn homemade costumes to it 3 years in a row now and half the fun is making them. you know your work was well done when fellow guest gives you their thumbs up! hmm as for costume ideas, maybe tink peter and two pirates? or you three of you could be imagination scientists and one of you figment! hey now thats not a bad idea...lol gah what am i saying ive already got mine! best of luck and you wont be dissapointed when you go!
