Any thoughts for weather in the evening/night for MNSSHP during last week of September? Will it still be warm and humid at night? Thinking of cooler costumes for the kids instead of long sleeves...

I can't say about September specifically, but I wass there last year on Halloween and it was HOT. THis was my first time in-costume, and it was rough. It was hot even late at night, so much so that Splash was my last ride of the night and I was all for getting soaked!

But, Florida weather can be tricky, so you never know, but I'd bank on it being on the warm side.

It won't get cool until November, possibly late November. Trust me. I grew up in FL and have plenty of pictures of us kids playing in the sprinklers on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Plan for hot but bring a sweater or something that matches just in case. I did need a little scarf last year at MNSSHP in late October.

I've been to three MNSSHPs. At all three, i saw quite a few hot, sweaty, red-faced little kids dressed in costumes that were causing them to overheat. Later in the evening, I saw parents hauling around their kids' costumes in their arms - they had to take them off!

It's a really good idea to think about this ahead of time. September especially can be extremely hot and humid, even at night! Good for you, OP, for thinking ahead. I say dress 'em up cute, but cool. And no face paint!

we are going in September also. DD has a Jessie costume that is fairly light but will pack a change of clothes in my back pack just in case it's too hot. My experience with September weather has been hot and humid. Myself and my DH are just wearing Halloween T-shirts.

We were there last year then end of September. It was steamy. I was wearing a Mrs.Potato Head costume and went sleeveless. I was warm but not over heated. My son went as the beast and by 9pm the hat was off but unlike me he had a full set of clothing on underneath. I told him just to wear the costume but you know 23 year old's know everything. My 25 year old daughter wore a Minnie Dress and she was fine. It did cool off after 10pm but I think that was because the crowds cleared out. The hottest part was when we were all squeezed into the Hub waiting for fireworks. If you plan on watching them, and I do suggest that you do, find a less crowded spot and you will be fine. We are planning another party this year. Also the last week of September.

Thanks - I think I'll take my backup costume idea - all 3 DDs as cheerleaders and DS with just jersey and shorts. Current costumes are Maleficent, aurora coronation and aurora in blue dress and boys lightning McQueen pit crew - all long sleeved which works great for a PA Halloween!

We went the end of Sept in 2006 and DD and I had matching cheerleader costumes which was wonderful in the heat! :thumbsup2 (I felt like an idiot, but we were very comfortable compared to the guests wearing full, heavy costumes, wigs, etc.)

It'll be warm! The year we went that week was awesome. Hot enough to enjoy the parks and the pool and smaller crowds.

Have fun!

Agree with the others. We went on 9/27 two years ago, and I recall it still being very warm and humid at night.

Found this place online that sells Hawaiian shirts for the family, matching capris for women, mumus, sundresses, etc. We are going to buy in matching patterns and add leis and maybe straw hats and be Hawaiian tourists. Should be cool!

Love DIS - placed the order for their cheer skirts - I thought about having clothes to change or wearing tank tops and shorts under their fancier costumes but I really won't want to be carrying around 4 costumes if they choose to change!

last year i did the party around the 19th
i wore a tshirt and shorts and was still warm.

in 2010 i went that same week. and it was a bad rainstorm that came through between 4-5 and so it dropped to 70 degrees (note sarcasm)

so i would go for light and comfortable

i was there oct 2nd/3rd and it was 86 degrees at midnight last year. But last year was exceptionally hot.
