Hi everyone! Looking for opinions. DF and I will be Disneymooning in WDW in September. We will be attending MNSSHP on Sept 10. I've read that it is still quite warm there in September and we're prepared for summer temps. Just interested in people's opinions about costumes vs no costumes. I've read that some dress up and some don't, so I know we'll fit in either way. We could also do a custom or themed T shirt. Has anyone gone to the party this time of year? Just wondering what you opinions are. Thanks everyone!

May sound a bit cheesy but since you are Disneymooning there, I will take it that your wedding will have been just a bit before your trip. I don't know where you live but I'm also going to assume that it'll be pretty warm where you're from during your wedding since it sounds like it'll be a summer wedding? And that based on these elements you will have chosen, shall we say, warm-friendly wedding attire. All of these things equate to the fact that I think it would be cute for you and your then DH should dress up as a bride and groom. I think that you'll get a lot of attention, it will be a more "original" costume, and that the pictures you take will make for some great things to have about the house, give as gifts, etc!

I mean, it'll look like Mickey was a guest at your wedding! How cool is that?! :goodvibes

It was VERY WARM. Most people dress up in mild, not so out-there costumes. A lot of kids will be pirates, princesses, the regular. There will be a few people on the opposite sides of the spectrum from very dressed up to casual attire. Either way, it's fun, and the CM's have to get rid of their candy. As we were leaving MK that night, a CM just took handfuls of candy and shoved it in our bags. It was funny. They have to get rid of the candy.

It is hot and humid. My kids dressed up in costumes twice. But after maybe an hour, they were complaining about being hot, itchy, the usual and they wanted to ride Splash. So off came the princess dresses! Luckily I thought ahead and brought extra clothes.
Last party I wised up and they wore really cute Halloween t shirts. Everyone was much more comfortable, no complaints and were still in the spirit of the party!

Thanks for your help everyone. Cais, we're definitely not the type that are "too cool for school". My question was more weather based than anything else! Anyone else that wants to weigh in please do!!

We had costumes on in the middle of October and were uncomfortable. If I went again I would just wear a Halloween T shirt and shorts. Actually it seemed most people were not even dressed up maybe 1/4 were. My grand daughter had fun dressing up but for me I think it took some of the fun out of the party because I felt uncomfortable so next time I'm going to be comfortable and enjoy it.

I usually wear a Halloween themed t-shirt. My brother and my son wore matching Perry shirts and looked adorable. It can be so hot in September, I've lived down here for 20 years and we've gone on nights where we worried about our chocolate melting. You might want to consider just wearing the groom and bride Mickey Ears and matching shirts.

Congratulations!
The year we went at that time (early Sept) it was hot and muggy just like the other posters said. However, we took this into consideration when we picked our costumes and I wore a very light toga as did my DH. We were very comfortable and had a blast. Either way the party will be fun. Last year it poured through our night. No costumes, just Halloween t-shirts that we bought that day. Still was great! First pics with the 7 dwarfs. :) Hope you have a blast! :wizard:

We're doing the same in mid-October! I'm thinking I'm just going to wear a tshirt-dress I have that has a skeleton on it, with shorts and some fun jewelry and/or makeup. DH wouldn't be super into dressing up anyway...maybe we'll do the wedding Mickey ears that night...

We almost always go in Sept, plus we live in the central FL region, so I can tell you that costumes are fine if you keep them light, airy and breathable.

Personally I avoid those mass-marketed polyester sweat traps they sell in the stores, I like to cobble our own costumes together (not that great at sewing myself but I can hand-stitch a few things, got a hot glue gun, and usually try to find things I can just transform like salvation army clothes).

Themed t-shirts are good-- some years we just wear jack-o-lantern t-shirts and those Mickey pumpkin ears. Some years we do something simple-- cowboys, pirates, etc. I've gone as the fairie Godmother and that was easy because it was light weight and I could whip it on or off as I felt like it.

My husband went as Olaf (the mime from Tangled) one year but he said it was all good except the make up, which made him sweat too much. So we try to avoid make up too.

This year we're going as French Revolutionaries from Les Mis-- so we can get cotton shirts and roll up sleeves and throw on a decorated vest & sash or hat, shouldn't be too bad.
