My family and I are attending the September 17th MNSSHP. This includes my mom, dad, brother, sis-in-law and our kid and their kids.

Our littles will be dressed up, (7 1/2, 6, 18 mo and 8 mo) but do the adults need to be in costume to enjoy the party?

I'm not really into dressing up in the first place, it's going to be hot and I really don't want to buy something just for this one party. :rolleyes1

You do not have to wear a costume. There are plenty of people that do not. Hope you have a great time!

There are plenty who do not dress up... and the rest of us laugh at you.

I'm just kidding of course. My whole family dresses up. If you want to cool down, there isn't much better than a pocahontas or jasmine or Ariel costume (just keep it classy).

An easy one is black shorts, white t-shirts with your names on them and mouse ears. Voila, you're Mouseketeers!

Hey! We'll be there on the same day! I can't decide if we're going to dress up or not. It can't be anything that I can't ride the rides with--that's for sure :) And nothing that's too hot, and I don't think you can cover your face as an adult (I think that also includes make-up too, so no zombies). I guess I've got 26 days to come up with something...

We had a large group and the adults really didn't want to dress up. After much thought we decided to dress as Mickey's baseball team. We used our ages for the numbers on our backs, and just wore black shorts. I used the glow in the dark iron ons so Mickey's picture and our numbers glowed all night. We got a ton of comments and were comfortable and cool. I was surprised at how hot it was that night. We saw a lot of little ones who were cranky, I'm assuming they were too warm. Have a great time, the party is the best Disney has.

When my husband and I went he had a white shirt with Trick written on it and mine said Treat.

People joked we needed a small child to be the "Or"

We found the shirts on CafePress.com

My husband and I dressed along with our kids but we dress every year with them anyway. Just a tradition I guess.

I love the ideas on here about simple costumes that would still be comfy and make it seem like you were in the spirit at the same time.

I pretty much never dress up for Halloween anymore, but I want to do something for the MNSSHP we're going to in September. I don't want anything expensive, uncomfortable, or hot though. I came up with one idea that I might do. It's not exactly a costume, but more of a "character inspired" outfit. I was thinking of wearing a black cotton/jersey skirt, a light blue scoop neck shirt, silver Crocs Mary Janes, and then doing my hair in the same style as Cinderella's, and adding a small Cinderella tiara, necklace, and earrings. I haven't actually tried this out yet, so I'm not sure if it'll look ridiculous, but it would be comfortable!

You don't have to but it sure is a lot of fun!!!!! Last time we went me, my husband and our older son wore ghostbusters jumpsuits and proton packs. Then we dressed our 2 yr old in white pants, a white tshirt with ghost eyes on the front and "boo" on the back and a white hat. Then we gave him a spinie light up toy to hold the whole time. So he was our ghost! We got so many compliments and laughs from other party guests. One of the dance party DJs even announced "ghostbusters in the house!" when we walked in and played the ghostbusters song. You don't have to go that far, but even a tshirt costume adds some fun to the night!

My entire family loves to dresses up for MNSSHP. Last year was our most ambitious theme yet-I was Mother Nature, husband was The Green Man, and the kids were Flora and Fauna. It was so much fun! In previous years, we were pirates, and classic movie monsters. The pirate year, my husband and I simply wore t-shirts that looked like pirate costumes (from Wal-Mart). The classic monsters- I wore a tiny witch hat that I got from Cracker Barrel with black shorts and shirt.

You don't have to dress up, but if you do, try to go with something comfortable.

It was so hot and humid last year I ditched the Walmart witch dress and put on my blinded out Mickey tank top, shorts and wore my red and white polka dot Minnie sun that I bought during the trip.

I think at least a Disney top and ears are fun especially for the photo op's. if your kids are sensitive to the loud fireworks, bring something for heir ears. It is an earth shaking event. I never saw a display like it before.

Love this idea! You'll be SO cute! :)

Our family is considering being
1 cowboys/girls
2 "monsters" with either hard hats or OK baseball caps or
3 mouseketeers.

Monsters would probably be most fun, but we need to keep them simple as we plan to arrive at about 4:00 for ride time etc. my boys are thinking of ways to pull off the two headed guy. I think DD and I could probably do cheerleader monsters. Now for DH.

We might take a white T-shirt & put black spots on it--for the 101 dalmation puppies. Most other ideas I thought of involve heavier custumes or hats that will be a pain to deal with. Otherwise, it might just be a hallo themed t-shirt.

My daughter will dress up as a princess--no issues there. If I let her, she'd do that all 5 days of the trip.
